Comrade John D. Doyle, late Troop B, 6th Cavalry, writes,
"I have read the articles in Winners of the West regarding the Custer fight and that of Colonel William Baird dealing with the wounding of Lieutenant Charles Braden, 7th U.S. Cavalry.
I knew Colonel Baird when he was a 1st Lieutenant in the 6th U.S. Cavalry,
an officer admired and respected by every enlisted man who knew him. His
story was most interesting to me as I am sure it was to all who were fortunate
enough to read it.
