THE SMALLEST PENSIONS

The recent article of Westbrook Pegler on pensions for war veterans left out the oldest and best fighters who won more territory for Uncle Sam than all the others put together, the Indian fighters. We were paid $13 a month as privates and $15 as corporals, with 25 cents a month taken out for the Soldiers' Home. When we were unfit for service we got the smallest pay and the smallest pensions.
