From Louis Fryhling, Missoula, MT

Excerpt: "I am only sixty years of age and have been sick for many years. I have recently undergone an operation and the doctors here tell that I will not be able to work again to support my family. I would like to know if you would not try to get me a pension. I wrote about a month ago to Washington DC for application blanks but have never received them. I also wrote to my camp at Billings, Montana but did not get much satisfaction from them. During my campaign in the Army I was thrown from a horse and had several ribs broken and was also hurt inside as blood would run out of my mouth at times for many years after I was discharged. However this accident was never put into my discharge."
