Mr. Fred O. Gregerson writes in behalf of Comrade George Sorrell as follows:
George Sorell, of Troop K, 7th U.S. Cavalry, 1876 to 1878, celebrated
his 77th birthday on May 29, 1930. He enlisted at Fort Leavenworth and
was under General Miles in the expedition of the 5th U.S. Infantry against
the Indian band under Chief Joseph in 1877, the year after the Custer massacre.
Old George, as he is now called, was born in New York state in 1853, and
landed in these parts in 1903, and has followed farm work largely until
a few years ago, when he retired. He is quite spry yet, and takes his regular
walks often out in the country. He would be glad to hear from any of his
old comrades.
