Scholarships
- The American Society of Genealogists offers an annual award to a
scholar,
based on a manuscript or published paper of at least 5,000 words. The
award
carries a $500 scholarship, applicable towards tuition and expenses.
Enrollees
of the National Institute on Genealogical Research are eligible for the
award. For details, see the society's Web site at http://www.fasg.org/asg_scholar_award.html.
Applicants must ALSO apply separately for enrollment in the
institute
to assure a place in the class.
- The National
Institute on Genealogical
Research (NIGR) Alumni Association annually presents the Richard S.
Lackey Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 to an experienced
researcher
holding either in a paid or volunteer position in the genealogical
community.
The scholarship covers: full NIGR tuition for the space reserved for
the
scholarship winner; attendance at the alumni dinner; and partial
travel,
hotel, and meal costs. Applicants wishing to attend NIGR whether or
not they are chosen as the scholarship recipient, must ALSO apply
separately
for enrollment in the institute to assure a place in the class.
