JACKSON, RUTH MAE - At the Victoria Glen Manor, Perth-Andover,
NB, Ruth Mae Jackson at the age of 93, passed away February 3,
2002. Born in Kilburn, NB and permanently residing in Bath, NB,
she is survived by one daughter; Judy Bear of Tobique First
Nation, two sons; Bud (Rose) and Ronald (Madeline) both of Bath,
one sister; Margaret Tompkins of Bath, several grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Resting at
Kilcollins Funeral Home, 31 Hospital St, Bath, NB with visiting
Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Service will be held at Kilcollins
Funeral Chapel in Bath on Tuesday February 5, 2002 at 3:00 PM
with Rev. Les Johnston officiating. Interment will take place in
Kilburn Community Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made
to the Martin Kilfoil Fund.

JACQUARD (HANSEN), AGNES ALVINA -
85, formerly of Campobello Island, N.B., Upper Woodstock, N.B.,
and Yarmouth, passed away March 15, 2003, in the Yarmouth
Regional Hospital. Born in Blue Belle, N.B. she was a daughter of
the late Clarence and Julia (Hansen) Hansen. She was a member of
the Yarmouth Zion Baptist Church. She worked at Tidal View Manor
as a PCW for 10 years. She is survived by twin daughters, Nita
Cole, Woodstock, N.B.; Rita Hansen, (Ray) Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.;
sons, Everett (Shirley), Woodstock, N.B.; Ray (Betty), Clinton (Judith),
both of Moncton, N.B.; Merle "Rickey" (Sandra),
Yarmouth; half sister, Rosaline Shaw, Ontario; 11 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren. The remains are resting in
Sweeny\rquote s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, where visitation will be
2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday in
Yarmouth Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Wallace and Rev. Victor
Adams officiating. Spring burial will be in Yarmouth Mountain
Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Canadian

JEWETT, JENNIE MYRTLE
Jennie Myrtle Jewett of Woodstock passed away at the home of her
daughter in Fredericton on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at the age of
90. Jennie is survived by one son, Paul Jewett (Heather) of
Fredericton; three daughters, Marilyn Holyoke (Douglas) of
Newmarket, ON; Carol Ann Campbell (Malcolm) of Fredericton, NB;
Jane Gamble of Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Betty Cronk of
Worchester, Mass; Evelyn Rideout of Detroit, Mich; six
grandchildren, Terry Ann Gibson (Scott) of Woodstock, NB; Paul
Holyoke (Daisy) of Toronto, ON; Jean Rudman (Marty) of Toronto,
ON: Dylan Gamble of Mississauga, ON; Matthew Jewett and Ryan
Jewett of Fredericton, NB. She is also survived by six
grandchildren, Christopher Gibson of Woodstock, NB; Lewis Rudman;
Violet Rudman; Henry Rudman; Grace Holyoke; Alice Holyoke all of
Toronto, ON; several nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeceased
by her husband Carroll Jewett; her parents, Thomas and Nettie (Turney)
McLaughlin; three brothers, Turney Hale; William Hale; Thomas
McLaughlin; one sister Harriet Estabrook. Jennie and Carroll
Jewett Managed the Connell Park Camp Grounds for many years.

JOHNSON, EMMA MAE -
Of Canterbury passed away at Carleton Memorial Hospital in
Woodstock on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the age of 83. Emma is
survived by one son Colin Johnson and his wife Madeline of
Oshawa, ON.; one brother Lloyd Dow and his wife Evelyn of
Lindsay, NB; two grandsons, Allen Johnson; and Roger Johnson; one
granddaughter, Debrah Geldart; two great grandsons, Kyle Geldart
and Tyler Geldart all of Ontario; several nieces and nephews. She
was pre-deceased by her husband Wendell Johnson and her parents,
Archie and Gertrude Dow. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815
Main Street, Woodstock, NB., with visiting on Friday form 2-4pm
and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm
from Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Darrell McLellan will be
officiating, with interment in the Canterbury Cemetery.

JOHNSON, MARY JOYCE Mary J. Johnson, formerly of Dow Settlement,
passed away November 14, 2002 at Nashwaak Villa. Born at
Fredericton on May 26, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and
Laura (Gorman) Boyd. Mary
was a registered nurse and practiced in Fredericton for many
years. As a second profession she chose to attend Provincial
Normal School and became a school teacher, teaching in the Dow
Settlement area. She was a member of the Dow Settlement Baptist
Church. Mary is survived by a son, Richard Johnson and his wife
Sharon, Nackawic; two sisters, Audrey MacNaughton, Fredericton
and Marguerite McLellan, Dow Settlement; a grandson, Matthew
Johnson and his wife Chastity, Canterbury; three granddaughters,
Jennifer Johnson, Hopedale, Labrador, Cristina Johnson, Halifax,
NS and Laura Johnson, Nackawic; a great granddaughter, Emily;
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband,
Douglas S. Johnson on October 26, 1998 and two sisters, Irva
Higgs and infant Florence. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home,
585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Friday from 7-9 p.m.
and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held
at the Dow Settlement Baptist Church, 521 Route 122 on Sunday,
November 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. Rev. Dale Greer officiating.
Interment will be in the Lower Meductic Cemetery. For those who
wish to make a donation in memory of Mary, the family has

JOHNSTON, CLARENCE JOSEPH -
The death of Clarence J. Johnston of 393 St. John Street,
Fredericton, NB occurred at his home on Saturday, September 28th,
2002. Born in Newburg, NB on December 18th, 1918, he was the son of the late Mabel (Gallagher)
and Dennis Johnston. He
taught school for 42 years - Newburg, Johnville, Jacksonville,
Norton, Florenceville, Bath and Fredericton. Coming to
Fredericton in 1963, he formed part of the Practice Teaching Team
at Teachers College and was involved in charting the course of
that department. When UNB assumed the task of preparing teachers
he continued in the same capacity until his retirement in 1980.
During his career, he took an active part in professional, church
and community affairs - such as: NBTA, CYO, church choirs and
service clubs. He went with St. Dunstan's choir to the
International Festival in Wales in 1978 and was a member of the
Epsilon Y's Men's service club for over 37 years. He loved his
family dearly and was greatly interested in his extended family.
He was the author of four books on family history: "The
Johnston Journal" and "The Descendants of Eleanore and
Peter Gallagher" and two additional books on family history.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Kilfoil); two
daughters, Marie and Patricia (Barry) Mabey, both of Saint John,
NB; three sons, Dan (Rosemary) of London, ON, Joe (Joan) of Saint
John, NB and Rob (Tracey) of Florenceville, NB; eight
grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by five
brothers - Rev. Daniel of Victoria, BC, Dr. Edmund (Evelyn) of St.
Stephen, NB and Mike, John (Mary) and Hugh of Quincy, MA.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral
Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Monday, September 30th,
2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.
Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 1st, 2002 at
12:05 pm. Monsignor Brian Sheehan as celebrant. Interment will be
in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Newburg, NB on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Retired Teachers
Scholarship Fund, the Newburg Cemetery Fund or a charity of the
donor's choice.

Dr. Joseph D. Johnston of Woodstock, NB, on Thursday, December 18,
2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born
November 23, 1947 in St. Stephen, NB, he was a son of Evelyn (MacKinnon)
and the late Edmund Johnston. Besides his mother he is survived
by his wife Catherine (McShane) Johnston, two daughters, Katie
and Theresa Johnston, sisters: Dr. Mary Johnston (Dr. Syd
McKnight), Beth Johnston, Dr. Rose Johnston (Dr. Muriel Agnes),
Helen Johnston (Peter Brown), brothers: Dr. Mike (Karyn)
Johnston, John (Anna) Johnston, Jim (Dianne) Johnston, Dr. Mark (Dr.
Beth) Johnston, Dr. Dennis Gretchen) Johnston, Dr. Paul (Dr.
Janine) Johnston, Pete Johnston, also aunts and uncles, and

Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at the age of 89. Charles is survived

JONES, E. KEITH - Of Woodstock, passed away at Carleton Memorial
Hospital in Woodstock on Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the age of 70.
Keith is survived by his wife Margaret Jones; one daughter, Karen
Jones of Portland, Maine; two sons, Keith Jones of Skiff Lake,;
Kevin Jones and his wife Jane of Canterbury; several nieces,
nephews and cousins. Keith was predeceased by his parents, E. Raymond and Anna
M. (Hogge) Jones.
Following graduation from Woodstock, Keith attended Mount Allison
University, receiving his Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1955. He
then returned to Woodstock and joined his father in business at
Jones Music Co. He became very interested in cable television,
establishing systems in Woodstock and Nackawic, while in business
in Woodstock, Keith was actively involved with many athletic
teams, ranging from hockey, the famous Senators Basketball Team,
managing the Woodstock Elks baseball team, who won the Maritime
Championship in 1958 and was President of the Woodstock
Merchants\rquote Senior Baseball Club. Keith was involved with
many business organizations, the Chamber of Commerce, Director of
the Woodstock Downtown Business Association, Director of the
Downtown Development Committee, Charter member and President of
the Woodstock Recreational Council, Chairman of the Board of the
Victorian Order of Nurses and a member of the Lions Club and the
Mens Bridge Club. When Keith and his family moved to Skiff Lake
in 1980, Keith gave up his private business interests and started
work with Revenue Canada as a Customs Inspector. He became
involved with that community, as well, serving on the Canterbury
High School Parents Advisory Committee, working very hard and
successfully at improving the Canterbury School. He coached
basketball at the school and was Chairman of the Board of
Stewards of St. Marks United Church and was very active with the
Skiff Lake Cottage Owner\rquote s Association acting as Secretary-Treasurer
for a time. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street,
Woodstock, with no visitation. Funeral Service will be held on
Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bev
Brazier will be officiating. Following cremation, the interment
will be in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. If desired, donations
may be made to St. Marks United Church or to a memorial of the
donors choice.

JONES, VERNA KATHRYN -
At the Victoria Glen Manor Perth-Andover on March 21, 2003, Verna
Kathryn Jones of Florenceville passed away at the age of 84. Born
in Riverbank, NB, she was the daughter of Leon & Violet (Chase)
Tompkins. Survived by son Brian (Cheryl) Jones of Riverbank,
daughter Rayma (John) MacPherson of Dartmouth, NS, grandchildren
Stephanie and Garreth MacPherson and step granddaughter Anne
Smith, sister Bernice Brooks of Connecticut, brothers Edmund and
Everett (Joyce) of Florenceville. Several nieces and nephews and
cousins. Predeceased by her parents, husband Ivor, infant
daughter Barbara, brothers Cecil, Alan, Maurice and Wendell
Tompkins. Verna spent a decade in Nova Scotia during her youth
but returned to Florenceville where she devoted herself as a
loving wife and mother. She was devout in her faith and a member
of the Pentecostal Church. Verna worked at McCain Foods for many
years. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She will be fondly
remembered and missed by her family and friends. The family will
receive friends at Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville, with visiting
today 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be Sunday at 1PM
from Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville, Rev. Ken Stoddard will
officiate. Interment will be in the Florenceville United Baptist
Cemetery at a later date.

JUDGE SR., Hugh
The death occurred Sunday night in the Fisher Memorial Hospital
of Hugh Judge, sr., after a week's illness at the age of 81 years.
Mr. Judge had been ill about a week and was operated upon in the
hospital, his death following.
Mr. Judge was born in St. Andrews, N.B., a son of the late
Charles and Frances Judge, and the last surviving member of a
family of eight boys. He was in his younger days an
employee of the New Brunswick Railway Company and for a great
many years on the Gibson branch of the C.P.R. being superannuated
about 11 years ago. He lived for some years in Fredericton
before coming to Woodstock to live and in both places he had a
host of warm personal friends who will learn with regret of his
death. He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. E. H.
Berthe, of Ottawa, and Charles Judge, of Saint John. There
are also three grandchildren, Hugh Thomas Judge, Saint John, and
Helen and Mart Berthe, of Ottawa.

JUDGE, Mrs. Johanna G.
The death of Mrs. Johanna G. Judge, widow of Hugh Judge, occurred
at her residence, in Woodstock, on April 1. The daughter of
the late Charles and Johannah Gallagher, she was in her 86th year.
A lifelong resident of Woodstock, she had spent a few years in
Fredericton. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. E. H. Berthe,
Ottawa; two sons, Hugh C. Judge, Woodstock, and Charles J. Judge,
Saint John, and three grandchildren, Mary and Helen Berthe of
Ottawa, and Thomas Judge, Saint John. The funeral was held
from her late residence on Sunday afternoon, April 4, to St.
Gertrude's Church, for Libera service, conducted by Very Rev. J.
B. McCarthy. The pallbearers were Robers Markey, Edward
Markey, C. G. Gallagher, Eugene Bowlin, Clifford Fewer and
Grenville McLean. High Mass of Requiem was celebrated in St.
Gertrude's Church, April 6, with Dean McCarthy officiating.
Interment was in Calvary cemetery with prayers at the graveside
by Dean McCarthy. Those attending from out-of-town were:
