1891 Census of Canada

Institutions Enumeration

Charlotte County, New Brunswick

National Archives of Canada microfilm reel T6427

All of the institutions enumerations for the whole country are microfilmed together on reel T6427. In New Brunswick, there was generally one page per county. This was the case for Charlotte County.

The institutions enumeration was done on the regular Schedule 1 form, Nominal Return of the Living, used for the main enumeration. However, some of the columns were not used or were altered for the institutions enumeration. In the transcription below, the first row shows the standard headings that were pre-printed on the form. The second row shows the special institutions headings that were written in by hand. It is not at all clear what they mean. I have simply transcribed them as they appeared in the original.

What I have called line 3A was written in between lines 2 and 3. Lines 8 and 9 were bracketed together with a note saying, "same family."

Transcribed by Craig Walsh, November 2001.
