Updated May 2005
As of May 2005, US Citizens are NOT REQUIRED to have a US Passport. However, a US Driver's License & Birth Certificate should be carried with you. If you have been NATURALIZED, a copy of those papers should accompany you as well!
In the State of Maine (Calais), ALL public libraries have free internet access available, so that you may check your email.
Calais Free Library in Calais, and the St. Croix Library in St. Stephen both have terminals available for the public use. Usually you have to sign up at the Circulation Desk for access which is granted in 1/2 hour increments.
St. Andrews, now has the Seafarer's Cafe on Water Street, which has terminals for public access.
Anticipate a long wait crossing the International Bridge at Ferry Point from Calais into St. Stephen during the summer month. You can change your currency from US to Canadian at the Currency Exchange on Milltown Blvd, about 1 block down on the right AFTER you come into St. Stephen.
If you're staying in the St. Stephen area, you will want to avoid Milltown Blvd during the afternoon hours as traffic lines up along here for those returning to the United States. Union & Queen Streets are better alternatives.
