To Harris Hatch Esq Surrogate Judge of Probates for the County of Charlotte

The Petition of Paulina Benson of the Parish of Grandmanan in the County of Charlotte aforesaid

Humbly Sheweth

That Henry Benson Jr. of the parish aforesaid, deceased this life on or about the 25th of January Anno Domini 1847, being washed from on Board the Brig Wander when at sea, without having to the knowledge and belief of your Petitioner made any will, that the said said Henry Benson was an inhabitant of Parish of Grandmanan aforesaid and that he died seized or otherwise entitled to Real Estate to the value of 700 situate in the parish aforesaid and Personal Estate in the value of 475      That the said Henry Benson left a widow Paulina Benson, Your Petitioner, and a son Ferdinand Benson two years old who reside in the Parish of Grandmanan aforesaid.

      Your Petitioner prays that letters of administration of the estate and effects of the said Henry Benson may be granted to her in due form of law and as in duty bound will ever pray.

On the estate of Henry Benson Junior late of the parish of Grand Manan, within said county, deceased, intestate.

     On reading the affidavit of Paulina Benson, widow of the said deceased
      That widow Paulina Benson have letters of administration on the said estate
     That the said Paulina Benson together with William McLean of Saint Andrews, trader, and William Guptill, Senior, of Grand Manan, Farmer, give bond in eight hundred pounds for the due administration of the trust.
     That Church Meigs and Lorenzo Drake of Grand Manan be appraisers of the said estate

Agreeable to the annexed warrant we have appraised the property of the late Henry Benson, Senior, Viz
Real Estate None Personal Estate 5/8 of the Brig "Wanderer" at 468 . 15 . 0 An acknowledged amount due on the Schooner "Rambler" 100 . 0 0 568 . 15 0 7th August 1847       Lorenzo Drake

      Be it remembered that on this fourth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and forty seven, before me Harris Hatch, Surrogate Judge in and for the said County, personally appeared Polina Benson Administratrix on the estate of Henry Benson deceased late of the Parish of Grand Manan, in a true,just, and perfect inventory of all the estate of the said Henry Benson Junior, which has come to her possession and knowledge, and of any more should come, she will give it into the hand of each herewith.
