GUPTILL, JOHN DOUGLAS (JOHNNIE) - 77, of Castalia, Grand Manan passed away on Friday, May 2nd, 2003, at the Grand Manan Hospital. Born in Castalia he was the son of the late Jewett and Ila (Tidd) Guptill. Johnnie was a fisherman and spent many years working in the Lobster and Dulse, he was also a skilled Boat builder and built many Doreys over the years for fishermen of the Island. Johnnie is survived by his sister Irma Ingersoll, Castalia, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie (Fleet) Guptill, and three brothers Waverly, Charles, and Vernon. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Castalia Baptist Church Saturday 2-4, 7-9 PM. From where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2003 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Scott Lewis officiating assisted by Rev. Dennis Sisco. Interment to follow in the family plot Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia, N.B.
