RUSSELL, Scott Boyd (Scottie) - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., Monday, April 18, 2005, Mr. Scott Boyd Russell of Castalia, Grand Manan Island, N.B., passed away. Scottie grew up in Woodward’s Cove where he later became an active member of the fishing community over the years. He owned and operated two purse seiners, the Miss Jennifer and later the Polly B. He then owned and operated a fish plant with his father, where they smoked herring, and sold fish to Fulton Fish Market. After his involvement with the fishery, he worked at the Anchorage Provincial Park and sold smoked fish locally. He will always be remembered as a caring and loving father and friend, with his generosity and kindness. He is survived by his mother, Mildred, of Ocean View Lodge; two daughters, Lanette (Wade) Wilson of North Head, N.B., and Tina (Wade) Dakin, of Grand Harbour, N.B.; his two sons, Darcy (Cathy) Russell, of Castalia, N.B., and Derek Russell, of Woodward’s Cove, N.B.; also, three brothers, Bernard (Dianna) Russell, of Woodwards Cove, N.B., Dale (Betty) Russell, of Castalia, N.B., and Mr. Frank (Crystal) Russell, of Woodward’s Cove, N.B.; 10 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Hovey, and two grandchildren, Raeanne and Joshua. Visiting hours were held from the Emmanuel Pentecostal Assembly, on Wednesday, April 21, 2005, at 1 p.m., with Pastor George Clark officiating and Pastor Ted Scott assisting.
