On December 18, 1865 the first worship service of the newly built St. Lawrence Anglican Church was held. The church was built on land donated by Robert Douglass. Bishop Medley of Fredericton, NB consecrated the church on September 24, 1870. The bell of St. Lawrence Anglican Church is from the eighteenth century British ship, the S.S. Helena. St. Lawrence Anglican Church and St. Albans Anglican Church of Cocagne, Kent County, NB were each at one time missions of Saint Martins in the Woods. Saint Martins in the Woods Anglican Church is located in Shediac, Westmorland County, NB. The following text is recorded verbatim from a plaque, which is attached to the front of the church:

Provincial Historical Site
Located on Route 134 and on the south side of the Bouctouche River, St. Lawrence Anglican Cemetery contains at least thirty-six interments. The earliest burial date found on the existing monuments within the cemetery is 1892. The cemetery has been used for burials for at least the one hundred and twelve years. It is likely that there were burials between 1865 and 1892, but there are no monuments to indicate this. Likewise, there appear to be particular areas of the cemetery, which are burial sites, however there are no monuments or markers indicating that these areas hold interments.
