To his Excellency Major General and Sir. Howard Douglas Baronet, Lieutenant
Governor and Commander in Chief
of the Province of New Brunswick.
The petition of sundry settlers on the St.Nicholas River; Humbly sheweth,
That your petitioners have improved on several allotments on the St
Nicholas River, but owing to the extreme difficulty
of the times they have been unable to take out their grants:
Your petitioners humbly beg leave to offer their opinions that the new
system of disposing of the Crown Lands presents
such facilities to poor settlers as to induce them to wish for its
extension to your petitioners particular cases; And they
therefore humbly pray that Your Excellency will be graciously pleased
to take the premises into consideration, and allow
them to obtain their improvements at private sale according to the
tenor of the new regulations at a moderate upset price.
And your petioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
