1. Thomas1 Patterson was born May 1799 in Tyrone, Ireland? And died December 15, 1860 in Waterford, Kings Co. NB. He married Elizabeth Ann Walker June 28, 1825 in parish of Sussex, Kings County, NB, daughter of John Walker and Ann.
Notes for Thomas Patterson:
Burial Place: Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Sussex Corner, NB
Thomas Patterson and Elizabeth came to the colonies in 1819 From Tyrone, Ireland. Along with 2 Samuel's and a Hugh (Pattersons) and settled in the Sussex area.
Thomas Patterson's daughter Rachel….
Thomas married Rachel Patterson. Of this union, fifteen children were born ten boys and five girls, all of who survived and had families of their own. The youngest child, Rachel, was born only days before Thomas died in 1883, at the age of 52, leaving the task of raising this large family to the mother and older sons.
Family history reveals that the family was all to be grateful to an Indian squaw who with her papoose, were given shelter for the winter by an ancestor of Rachel Patterson named Walker. This Indian woman, in gratitude, nursed to health the mother of Grandmother Rachel, Elizabeth (1806 - 1886), who was very near death. The ancestor of Rachel patterson was probably her grandfather, John Walker, who lived on the Mountain (Ward's Creek). He is also the ancestor of Dave Walker of Upper Ward's Creek. Elizabeth, a daughter of this John Walker, was no doubt the woman nursed back to health. Elizabeth (1806 - 1886) married Thomas Patterson (1800-1860). They were the parents of Rachel Patterson Cunningham.
