Westfield Parish

Home of a Railway Worker's Family ca. 1920-2. Murray Chesley Banks was a section forman on the railway line running through Westfield. He and his family of a wife, Cleadie (Morehouse), and four daughters spent some time in this boxcar, which was fitted out as a home. They later moved into a nearby house, where they ran a hotel. On the ladder are Mabel (top) and Freda, and in the doorway is Cleadie and Nellie.
Wash day Westfield Beach Railway Round Turn ca. 1920-2.  Wash day was a bit different than we know it today. It must have been doubly hard considering their "home" conditions. From left to right - Nellie, Gertie, Cleadie & Freda.

At Westfield Beach - An "air conditioned" car, owned by Clowes Banks (standing at the front of the car between Cleadie & Murray Banks) In the mid section of the car are Mabel and Gertie Banks, daughters of Murray and Cleadie. Those in the rear seat are not identified.
A young soldier ca. 1920s, Norman Stanley (Stan) Keating b. Nerepis, 28 Feb 1898 - d. 01 Jul 1970, Saint John, NB. Served in the 115 Battalion of the 24th Company overseas in the United Kingdom and continent during the First World War. During the Second W.W. he served with the Veteran Guards No. 19.
