| Riverside Golf and Country Club Began in 1863 when John White from Scotland began golfing on the sand flats of Courtney Bay at low tide. Moved to East Riverside in 1913. Curling was added in 1966. |
| Ice Skating/Speed Skating James
A. Whelpley from Kings County invented the "Long Reach Speed Skate"
and introduced it on the Long Reach about 1870. After that skating became
a passion for young and old alike. Many practiced
skating on the wide stretches of the Kennebecasis. During the winter months travel by ice back and forth to the Pennisula was very common. Ice skates made the trip much faster and easier. |
