In most cases 1877-78 was the earliest settlement that teacher records were available. In the case of Semiwagon Ridge 1878-79 had to be substituted for the year 1877-78. Note that in many of these records the spelling was not consistant and this inconsistency was copied exactly to be presented here.
From school records dates March 1885, Alex Mitchell, Teacher District # 5 states that Elizabeth Clouston went to school at Beaubear's Island. Also an account book of Burchill's Beaubears Island 1850-57 lists Michael Flinne as teacher. From Nelson No.1 School (Monahan School) 1877-78 lists Michael Flinne as the school teacher there.
