Walking "The Ridge": Saturday, 8 September, 6:30 pm.
As the title suggests this is a walking tour of the base which was incorporated into the program last year with great success. The tour is held the evening
before the memorial service and offers participants a chance to walk in the footprints of the past.
Here is one of the comments from one of the fourteen (14) people in attendance last year:-
"Led by Christian Larsen in the evening of July 23rd, we and several others toured the property of the former Pennfield Ridge
Airbase. Christian, armed with precious copies of photos and diagrams of the Airbase in the 1940’s, pointed out where the various buildings,
hangars, etc. were once located. His dialogue was also interspersed with well researched information and anecdotes regarding training
accidents/incidents, relocation spots of some of the buildings when the base closed, and other facts. We even stood on one of the runways
which is in remarkable shape even today!" (Lynda Lougheed, 5 August 2011).
The memorial service is being dedicated to our fallen Comrades, namely David R. Adamson (RCAF), C. Douglas (Doug) Appleton (RCAF), Lloyd (Dooley) Bunce (RCAF), Stanley (Stan) Collins (RAF), Wesley A (Skinny) Cook (RCA), John H Cooper,
