The history of the Green's Point Lighthouse:

1867 - The natural causeway was removed to make Green's Point an island.

1879 - The steam-powered fog horn and old house were built.

1880 - Captain Helms becomes the first lightkeeper.

1897 - Sidney Dines becomes the second lightkeeper.

1903 - The lighthouse is built by C.L. McKeen of St. Andrews.

1907 - A wooden causeway was constructed to connect Green's Point to the mainland.

1918-19 - The kerosene- and diesel-powered compressed-air foghorn and second fog-alarm building are built.

1935 - Russell Matthews takes over as lightkeeper.

1936 - Prescott Dines becomes lightkeeper.

1952 - Green's Point gets electricity, an electric fog alarm motor and a well is dug.

1963 - Dines retires and hands the job over to Kitchener Randall.

1964 - The two new houses are finished and the old two-story house is demolished.

1978 - The wooden causeway is destroyed and a new one is built out of rock.

1979 - The lower house is sold and transported to Back Bay.

1981 - Veda Randall becomes lightkeeper for six months.

1982 - Richard Mullin of Grand Manan becomes the lightkeeper, stairs are built, and a computer building is constructed.

1983 - The radio tower is built.

1986 - Ralph Eldridge becomes the seventh and last lightkeeper.
