This photograph depicts St. George's first taxi operator, Cecil Doyle at the lower bridge over the Magaguadavic.  Not only did he use his vehicle for conveying the towns residents to their appointments, even as far off as Saint John, but also, when his work was done, found it convenient for courting.  Here he is seen with his wife-to-be, Margaret Hatfield, in the summer of 1932, and he was still talking about those early days in town when he was over 100 years old. ©David Goss
