Peter Clinch, Founder of St. George, New Brunswick, was born in Ireland in 1752.

In 1783 Mr. Clinch set out with two Indians in search of a place to settle.  Stopping along the banks of the Magaguadavic River, Clinch was so struck by it's beauty that he decided to make it his home.

Peter Clinch died in 1816.  He is buried beside his wife Lucretia in the old burial grounds beside St. Mark's Anglican Church in St. George, New Brunswick.
