Bar Road
| Bar
Road: Flag station on the Canadian
Pacific Railway: now within town of Saint Andrews: Saint
Andrews Parish, Charlotte County: in 1898 Bar Road had a
population of 12: today Bar Road is a dispersed
community. Ref: COMMUNITY PLACE NAMES
IN NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA, compiled by Robert
F. Fellows The Bar Road
was so named from the road that crossed the bar at low
tide, from Ministers Island to St. Andrews. This is an
interesting feature that turned the Island into a
peninsula, twice daily. It is said that Mr. VanHorne, who
was responsible for building the railroad, had a stop
made near the bar, so that he could get off at his summer
home. |
