William Daniel McKay 19 May1880, Virginia City, Storey Co., Nevada. William came directly from Scotland to Nevada County, CA with his family during the Gold Rush. He was b. 12 Apr 1835, Fochabers, Parish of Bellie, Elgin, Scotland d.29Jan 1913, Eureka, Humboldt Co., CA. Sarah's parents are: James Nixon and Catherine Ruth Thomas. The Nixon family came to Waweig from Ireland in 1822. This family attended The Waweig United Church, which is currently not in use. I was able to get inside and take photos to document what this church looks like. Many of the gravestones that Mary Ellen Jones took photos of are now gone or broken. We are lucky to have those photgraphs on line. |
