June 23, 1881 Some Bears:One day last week Mr. Nehemiah Hastay, of Baillie, succeeded in killing six bears at Canoose, which netted him the snug little sum of $50. We believe it will be difficult to find a man in the Province who has done so much in ridding the forests of so many bears in the same time. He has killed in all about a dozen this spring, and nearly three dozen during the last four years.
March 15 1894 We can boast of the strongest man in this sectiom of the country (Baillie). He can lift five bags of meal at one time, each bag containing 100 pounds
Oct 4 1894 From Baillie: Some of our farmers have already finished digging their potatoes.J.W. Mann had one and three quarters acres planted, which yielded him 510 bushels. This isnt too bad for the present season
The apple crop in this section is an excellent one.It is very common to hear some farmers say they will have from fifty to one hundred bushels
June 4 1896 On one trip last week the mail wagon between Moores Mills, Baillie and Oak Hill came near experiencing a hold up.Mr. McCoy was driving quietly along when two young tough characters suddenly sprang from the side of the road and attempted to seize the horse. The whip was vigorously applied and their plans frustrated.

Sir:
Would like a small space in your valuable paper to say a word or two about our roads from St.Stephen to Baillie.
Just wish some of our members of Legislature could have the pleasure of driving from Moores Mills to Baillie, and they wouldnt wonder why the farmers are not licensing their cars, especially at the high rate asked for doing so.If there was sickness in this place at night a doctor would hardly risk his life let alone his car.
In regard to inviting tourists to visit our province we sure cant, when on our main trunk road to Fredericton, two different parties who started from Boston to visit their homes over the weekened, in less than a mile got mired and had to be hauled out twice. They said they never saw such roads. Now there is either something wrong with our Provincial Government or else with those having charge of our roads.
Yours truly,
A Ratepayers Wife
