This little settlement, situated between Oak Hill and Lynnfield, has not received as much attention as other parts of the county, although many interesting events occur here.

On the 9th inst., four bears came out and killed a sheep for Mr. Charles Voutt.  Mr. Voutt loaded his gun with powder and ball and went out to see bruin.  At length he got his eye on a cub; but just as he was going to shoot, mother bruin appeard before him standing on her hind feet and making faces at him.  Mr. Voutt surveyed old bruin’s nose and concluded not to shoot as the bounty on bears has been taken off.

From Moore’s Mills:Quite a large party of young people of various ages assembled at the residence of Charles Waldron one evening last week. DeWolfe Corner, and Moore’s Mills were well represented, and all present spent a very happy evening, indulging in games and listening to music on the organ by Miss Myrtee Moore of DeWolfe.

The mooonlight nights of last week were taken advantage of by Allen Magowan and Walter Dinsmore of DeWolfe Corner to look for deer, and they were rewarded by the capture of a fine one in Wm. Magowans’s pasture.
