A hurricane of teriffic violence passed over Waweig and a portion of St.David on Monday evening about 6 oclock, travelling in an easterly direction and levelling everything in its track.Trees were torn from their roots and whirled around in the air as though they were straws.Barns were blown down, many houses destroyed and others unroofed. ..
At Oak Hill two barns belonging to Mr. Geo. W. Christie were blown down, also a barn belonging to Mr. William S. Fraser. Mr. Henry McKays house was unroofed and his barn destroyed.The furniture in the upper rooms of the house was carried away to a considerable distance, and some feather beds pursued their aerial flight so far that they have not yet been found. We have not yet heard of any loss of life to cattle, and thus far only one casualty.We are informed that Mr. Christies son in attempting to remove a horse had his leg fractured.

Mr. James Buchanans house of Oak Hill was struck by lightening on Sunday afternoon.The chimneys were shattered and L badly damaged.

It is proposed to lay out a new road on the line between the properties of Robert McMorran and Mrs. Emma Russell from Oak Hill to Alvin Christies place, intersecting the Lynnfield road. It is understood that the parties will give in the land free and the parish will fence the road.The will cost only about $360.00
From Oak Hill: Game is reported plentiful in this vicinity, but with the exception of partridge very little has been taken.

Something remarkable in sheep raising is reported from Oak Hill. george Russell a prominent farmer of that place,wintered nine ewes and eight of them have lambed.Six of them each gave birth to twins, while two of them each gave birth to triplets, making eighteen all told.All are living and doing well except the three offsprings of one ewe that were fed too much milk and will not gambol over the green this summer.

On one trip last week the mail wagon between Moores Mills, Baillie and Oak Hill came near experiencing a hold up.Mr. McCoy was driving quietly along when two young tough characters suddenly sprang from the side of the road and attempted to seize the horse.The whip was vigorously applied and their plans frustrated.

The house, barn and all other buildings of Howard Omar, of Oak Hill, eight miles from here, were completely destroyed by fire Monday afternoon.The fire spread to the woods, sweeping through the bush, and was still burning Wednesday.
