The settlement of Whittier Ridge is about two miles west of Clarence Ridge. It is located partially in Dumbarton Parish. The Whittier family that included Henry, Reuben and Merrill settled the area.  From 1873 to 1912 there was a post office located here serving about 50 people in the farming commuity.
