Sacred/To the memory/of/The Rev. Richard Clarke/the first Record of this Parish/and/the oldest Missionary in the colonies/having accomplished the 58th years of/his ministry being much respected/and/living in the utmost harmony/with the people of the serveal parishes/to which he was appointed/Departed this life 6th October 1824/aged 87 years/Also/Rebecca/his wife/who died the 7th May 1816/aged 69 years/Those worthy examples of Piety/extensive of Charity and Christian/Fortitude./After long and afflicating sickness/resigned their spirits/into the hands who gave it/looking forward/to their crowns of immortality/which/The Lord the righteous Judge/Shall at the last day/Bestow/on all his faithful Servants./New Milford, Connecticut 19 years/Gagetown, N.B. 25 years/St. Stephen 13 years.

All the above are in the part of the old graveyard now remaining.   Some of the stones have been misplaced since this transcription was made.   The oldest inscription to be seen there, forty or fifty years ago was in the southeast corner of the ground, on land not now within the graveyard fence, but the stone has long since disappeaared.-J.V.
