A GRANT made by His Excellency Governor Lawrence with the Advice and Consent
of His Majestys Council for this Province to Bliss Willoughby,
Edward Mott (of Connecticutt) and a Number of other persons /hereafter
named/ whom they represent as a Committee passed under the Seal
of this Province Giving granting & confirming unto them in
the proportions hereafter Specified Ninety two and one half Shares
or Rights of Two hundred Shares or Rights whereof a Tract of Land
now erected into a Township by the Name of the Township of Cumberland
doth consist which Tract of Land is Situate lying and being in
the District of Chignecto, and is bounded Northwesterly by the
River O Loc and from the Head of said River where the Marsh ends
to run North Ten Miles, and thence Easterly in the shortest line
to the French Fort now demolished, at the Bay Vert to be bounded
South West by the Bason of Chignecto from the said River O Lac
to the River Le Planche, and South Easterly by the said River
Le Planche to the head of the Marsh and from the said River and
Marsh to run North East till it meets with the Bay of Vert and
on said Bay to the French Fort aforesaid Reserving five hundred
Acres for Fort Cumberland and five hundred Acres at the Bay of
Vert for a Fort Containing in the whole by Estimation One hundred
Thousand Acres more or less according to a Plan and Survey of
the same to be herewith registered.
THE TERMS and Conditions on which this Grant is made are the Same and
of the like Tenor as them of the Township of Shoreham entered

Quit Rent to be paid after Ten Years
The Premisses not to be alienated or granted within Ten Years without
License
The Land granted to be improved or Inclosed Hemp planted &c
TWENTY four of the said Grantees with their whole families and Stock are
to remove and settle themselves in the said Township according
to their several Shares and allotments on or before the thirtieth
day of September next, or this Grant to be entirely void and of
none effect.
THIRTY four of the remaining Grantees with their Families and Stock to
settle themselves in the same manner as the above-mentioned twenty
four, on or before the thirtieth Day of September which will be
in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty one,
otherwise the Grant to be entirely void to all the Grantees who
shall not be at that time settled as above described~~And if the
said Twenty four, and the said Thirty four Grantees shall remove
& settle themselves as aforesaid with their Families and Stocks
at the times above limited, then the Grant shall be good and valid
to such of the remaining Thirty five Grantees as shall settle
themselves with their Families and Stock in like manner as the
above, on or before the last day of September, which will be in
the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Two~~
At which last period the Shares or Rights of all the Delinquents
shall cease and revert to the Crown &c and may be granted
to any other person or persons in the same manner as mentioned
in the Deeds of other Township or Tracts of Land already entered
in this Book.
SIGNED sealed and dated at Halifax in the said Province this Eighth Day
of October in the thirty third year of His Majesty’s Reign, Anno
Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty nine.
