The Alamance County Genealogical Society meets the second Monday of each month except June, July and August, at 7:00 p.m., at the Western Steak House, 142 N. Graham-Hopedale Road Burlington, NC 27215, 336-227-1448
The membership year for the society is September to August and membership dues are ($15.00 per person or family). To receive the January journal on time dues should be paid before the end of December.  Journals are published in January, May and September.

Our next meeting is Sept. 14, 2009  All visitors will be very welcome.

Join the genealogy exchange at the Clapp Family Library located at 3452 Harris Road.
Several groups will offer books/maps for sale. Make plans for afternoon tours Brunch snacks and beverages will be provided.

-Program_ Jimmy Campbell– A Brief History of the Militia System.

The militia in colonial America through the Civil War, and its Impact on Everyday Citizens

Jimmy Campbell has been involved with Revolutionary War living history since 1981and blacksmithing for about 20 years.
He’s worked with the High Point Museum as a smith about 15 years, is a native of High Point and now resides in Greensboro.
He is also a watch maker specializing in the repair of antique key wind pocket watches.
Campbell’s presentation will include information about the Battle of Clapp’s Mill and the Clapps.
