William Sentell

 

The said William Sentell who resided during the American Revolution at Halifax County, Virginia assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of Soldier of Militia.

 

Enlisted Halifax Co NC about 1776, 1st NC Company Militia commanded by Capt William Brinkley, was at Sullivans Island, Charleston Harbor, under Col Moultrie, at Ft Moultrie, part of Gen Benjamin Lincoln’s army in Savannah.  Battle of Sullivan’s Island.  Prisoner on ship for 3 months, exchanged and served afterwards in battles of Rugley’s Mills and Guilford Court House and time served was about one and one half years.
