William Winfred Fagundus, Jr.

BAYVIEW - William Winfred “Bill” Fagundus, Jr., 56, born in Pitman, New Jersey, passed away on May 21, 2007. A graduate of East Carolina University, he worked at A&B Auto before beginning a 25 year career with the N.C. Department of Human Resources. Though his “paying” job was with the State of N.C., his real passions were always in his craft. He had natural talents of carpentry, mechanical work on cars, gardening, tinkering in general, and that is where his heart was most content. Beyond the creation of his work, he found joy in his two children; Bryan Carl Fagundus of Winterville and Ashley Fagundus Dengler of Wilmington. In addition to his children, Bill leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren; Turner Bryan Fagundus and Wyatt Carl Fagundus; a daughter-in-law, Julie Fagundus; and a son-in-law, Todd Dengler. He also leaves behind two brothers; Frank Fagundus of Washington Township, NJ and Duncan Fagundus M.D. of Greenville NC; two sisters; Colleen Cooke of Salem, NJ and Faith Neal of Aura, NJ; ten nieces and nephews and one great niece. Preceding him in death were his mother, Lois McLeod Fagundus and a sister Laura Fagundus. We will miss our father, friend and brother, but we rest in knowing that he is dining with the King today. Henry H. Fair, Sr.

In the early hours of April 18, 2002, surrounded by his loved ones, Henry H. Fair Sr. entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though he suffered a painful and lengthy illness, he continued to encourage all those around him with the words of the Apostle Paul "whatever state I'm in I've learned to be content." Master Sgt. (Ret.) Henry H. Fair Sr. was born in Washington, N.C. on Jan. 25, 1930, to the late Raymond and Percie Fair and has been a resident of Hampton for the last 37 years. He was a retired Air Force veteran who also served with the U.S. Army. He attended N.C. Central University and was a graduate of St. Leo College. In addition to this parents, Henry was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Fair, Jr. and sisters Menville Cherry, Dorothy Boyd and Amanda F. Watson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years, Josie F. Fair; son, Henry H. Fair Jr. of Voorhees, N.J.; daughters, Shirley T. Williams and husband Elijah of Hartsville, S.C., Linda C. Barrett and husband James of Greenville, N.C. and Sheila Fair Bailey and husband Atmire, local residents; two sisters, Odessa Keech of Washington, N.C., Chloe S. Williams of Richmond; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends. A homegoing celebration with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Monday April 22, 2001 at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple, 3100 Butternut Drive, Hampton. James Joseph Farish

Mr. James Joseph “Jimmy Joe” Farish, 52, of Adams Street, Chocowinity, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Oakdale Cemetery with Pastor Clara Albritton officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington. Mr. Farish was born May 28, 1953 in Richmond, VA. He was the son of the late Robert Edward Farish, Sr. and Ruth Sullivan Farish. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1972. During high school, he was a member of a local band, known as “The Majestics”. Mr. Farish was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his sister, Linda Farish Kelly and her husband, Pat of Fort Collins, CO; his sister-in-law, Rebecca S. Farish of Washington; his nephew, Robert E. “Bobby” Farish, III and his wife, Melony of Washington; his niece, Nicole Walker and her husband, David of Winterville and his friend and caretaker, Lydia Oden. Valerie Farris

Ms. Valerie Farris of 553 Price Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Temple of Jesus Christ with pastor Telsa Lampkins officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Ms. Farris was born Nov. 6, 1967, to Wilbert Farris and the late Hester Smallwood Farris. She attended the New York City Public Schools. She attended Whitestone Holiness Church. Ms. Farris was employed with Extension of Living Home Health. Survivors include three daughters, Valeria Lawrence and Tylisha Farris, both of Chocowinity and Hester Farris of Washington; three sons, Stephon and Donte Farris, both of Chocowinity and Cornelius Farris of Washington; seven sisters, Cherly Farris, Gloria Cato and Earnestine Brown, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Yvonne Martin of Long Island, N.Y., Gwendolyn Davis of Highland Springs, Va., Ruthie Hill of Blounts Creek and Cynthia Teachey of Chocowinity and two brothers, Andre Farris of Utica, N.Y., and Jerome Farris of Manhattan, N.Y. She was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Williams and one brother, Roland Smallwood. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at L.R. Randolph Memorial Chapel, Washington. Neva Pearl Faulkner

Neva Pearl Faulkner, 72, a former telephone operator at the Woodner Hotel in Washington, died of cancer Dec. 2 at Washington Adventist Hospital. Mrs. Faulkner, who lived in Takoma Park, was born in Bath, N.C. She moved to the Washington area from California in the mid-1960s. She was a Woodner Hotel telephone operator from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. Her marriages to Earl Waters and Robert Faulkner ended in divorce. Survivors include two children from her first marriage, Sandy Hauck of Takoma Park and Bill Waters of Virginia Beach, and seven grandchildren. Audrey B. Few

Audrey B. Few, 72, of Virginia Beach, born in Washington, N.C., passed away July 12, 2001, in a local hospital. Mrs. Few was predeceased by her son, Jimmy L. Few. She is survived by her husband, Edward ''Ed'' W. Few Jr.; three daughters, Honey Few Kidd, Beverly Few Millikan, and Joy Marie Few, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, Joe Few and Kenneth ''Dude'' Few, both of Virginia Beach; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Glenn Hardy Mayo of Virginia Beach, and Margaret H. Miller of Fredericksburg, Va. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a treasure to her sisters, and friend to all. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Warren Wilson, at noon Monday, at the funeral home. Doris Mae Willis Fields

Doris Mae (Willis) Fields, 78, of Manchester, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, (March 12, 2006) to be with the Lord and to be reunited with her beloved husband, Jerry Fields. Her family was by her side and helped walk her home with the loving support and excellent care the Hospice nurses and staff at Rockville General Hospital, Bissell 2. Doris was born on November 20, 1927, in Chocowinity, NC, the daughter of the late McDonald Ewell Willis and Phyliss (Bikuledge) Willis. She was predeceased by her brother, McDonald Ewell Willis, Jr., her sister Elizabeth (Willis) Garey and a precious granddaughter Shelby Dolliver Fields. She was an exceptionally loving mother who adored her children and grandchildren. She was steadfast in her care and devotion to her husband and his 29 year struggle with multiple sclerosis. She cared for him with great compassion and strength until she could no longer keep him at home and reluctantly let him leave when he predeceased her in 2001. She enjoyed her Tuesday/Thursday morning outings at the Senior Citizen Center in Manchester. We give thanks and praise to our Lord, Jesus Christ for everyday that we were blessed with the gift of her life. The family wishes to thank Dr. Faustinus Onyirimba for his loving and gentle care. Doris is survived by a sister, Jean Faga of Boynton Beach, FL; and two daughters; two sons; ten grandchildren and a great grandchild. Her daughter Elizabeth F. Doris Arlene Williams Fleming

DURHAM - Mrs. Doris Arlene Williams Fleming, age 80, of 2520 E. Club Blvd, died at her home, on Thursday, June 17, 2004, after a period of declining health. Mrs. Fleming was a native of Beaufort County, NC but had lived most of her life in Durham. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Williams and Lillian Gibbs Williams. Mrs. Fleming retired from Ferguson Printing Company and was of the Baptist faith. She loved going to the beach and also loved to play bingo. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Thompson Fleming of Durham; one son, Joseph Bradsher Fleming and wife, Angela of Creedmoor; a grandson, Joseph Dylan Fleming and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Cash officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. HAMPTON - Unetta W. Fleming, 56, died Saturday, July 15, in Hampton. A native of Beaufort County, N.C., Mrs. Fleming was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, J.W. Fleming; three daughters, Brenda Leigh Fleming, Amy F. Boyd and Melanie Kaye Fleming, all of Washington, N.C.; and two sisters, Olive Boyd and Emma Whitaker, both also of Washington. Inez I. Flora, 82, died Dec. 17, 2002. She was born in Belhaven, N.C., to the late Oscar Linton and Cora Jackson Linton. She was also recently predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George E. Flora. She was retired from Food Fair/Pantry Pride grocery store and was a charter member of Azalea Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Doris Cytryn and husband, Bernard of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Linda F. Greene and husband, James Jr. of Virginia Beach; five granddaughters, Sondra Grandfield, Nancy Goldman, Jennifer Intravatola, Diane Lash and Sherry DeLooze; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melbert Linton of Chesapeake. Teresa Ann Florschutz, 46, of 4829 U.S. Highway 17 South, Chocowinity, died Monday, May 15, 2006. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington, with Father Arturo Cabra officiating. She was born in Craven County on Oct. 15, 1959. She was the daughter of Otto Florschutz Jr. and Nancy Ann Briggs Florschutz of Washington. She was a 1977 graduate of Washington High School and attended Beaufort County Community College, Appalachian State University and East Carolina University. She earned an associate degree in early childhood education. She was employed with Comfort Keepers of Washington. She was a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington. Survivors include three sons, Malcolm Bunch, Dillon Bunch and Aksel Bunch, all of Washington; one brother, Otto Florschutz III of Wrangell, Alaska; three sisters, Monica Burns of Washington, Angie Thompkins of Fredericksburg, Va., and Julie Joyner of Chocowinity; and her grandmother, Ruth Wheeler of Mesa, Ariz. Dr. Stewart Ham officiating. Burial will follow in Whitehurst Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Fonville was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 2, 1960. She was the daughter of the late George and Betty E. Hines. She was a graduate of the former Aurora High School, class of 1979. She furthered her studies at Fayetteville State University. She was married to Dennis Fonville, who survives. She was a member of Peedtown Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary. Survivors include one son, Georis Hines of Norfolk, Va.; three stepchildren, Dennis M. Fonville of Greenville, Dawn Carroll of Raleigh and Deshawna Fonville of Greensboro; and four sisters, Ovella Bilal of Winterville, and Georgie Hines, Terri Hines and Stephanie Williams, all of Aurora. RALEIGH - Gladys Roberson Forbes, 85, of 2617 Layden Street, died Saturday at Wake Medical Center. She was born in Beaufort County, NC. Mrs. Forbes retired as a supervisor with the N.C. Dept. of Revenue after 30 years of service. She was a charter member of Layden Memorial United Methodist Church and was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Layden Memorial United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Beryl Thomas Foreman, Jr.

Mr. Beryl Thomas Foreman Jr., 57, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Mr. Foreman was a native of Beaufort County and lived in Washington in his early years. He spent his adult life in the Maury and Stokes communities. A painter by trade, he was most recently employed with McGowan Paint Company. He is survived by three sons, David Craig Foreman of Maury, Charles Lisenby of Norfolk, Va., and Paul Joyner of Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Tammy Foreman and Wendy Spain, both of Washington, Crystal Phelps of Raleigh and Leanne Avery of Grifton; his mother, Essie Medford of Grimesland and step-mother, Edith Foreman of Washington; six sisters, Betty Jean Coward of Liberty, Ruby Casper of Williamston, Judy Fillingame of Vanceboro, Hazel Sanderson of Raleigh, Donna Harrington of Florida and Elizabeth Vick of Washington; four brothers, Billy Coward of Chocowinity, George Thomas Foreman of New Bern, Jesse Foreman of Washington and Ken Harrington of Grimesland; and five grandchildren. Charles Herbert Foreman

Mr. Charles Herbert Foreman, age 72, of 26063 US Hwy. 264 E., Pantego, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 Am Monday, December 31, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and will be conducted by Pastor Medford Hopkins. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery. Ronnie Keech, Jeff Leggett, Chip Hewitt, Charles Equils, Jody Howery and Henry Foster will serve as pallbearers. Horace Keech and Wesley Bowman will serve as honorary pallbearers. Charles was born on July 22, 1935 to the late Alphues Burtrom Foreman and Martha Sadler Foreman. On June 8, 1956 he married the former Frances Louise Bullock who survives. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was a tugboat operator for 20 years and for 25 years was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the Belhaven Pentecostal Holiness Church, former member of the Pantego Fire Dept., Pantego Ruritan Club, VFW, American Legion, and the Seabee’s. Survivors include his wife Frances of the home, 3 daughters, Katlin of the home, Louise Cahoon and husband Vernon of Belhaven, Rosileta Paul of Robersonville, 3 sons, Charles Foreman and wife Beverly of Washington, John Foreman and wife Nikki of Belhaven, Steve Foreman and wife Dot of Washington, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 4 sisters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home. Clara Waters Foreman

Clara Waters Foreman, 70, of the 900 block of Oklahoma Drive, died Sept. 26, 1994, in her residence. Mrs. Foreman was born in Pinetown, N.C., and was a member of Indian United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was co-founder and former co-owner of Plantation Rest Home for Adults. Survivors include her husband, W. Ralph Foreman; two daughters, Deborah Elaine Foreman of Chesapeake, and Denise Carol Clere of Silver Springs, Fla.; a son, Leroy Scott Foreman; four sisters, Rachel Waters, Effie Chambers and Doris Jordan of North Carolina, and Delsie Waters of Virginia Beach; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana F. Stanland. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. E. Dallas Gray Foreman, Sr.

Mr. Dallas Gray Foreman Sr., age 80, a lifelong resident of the Five Points Community, passed away Monday afternoon, March 20, 2006, at home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Brother Gene Gilbert with assistance by Brother Wayne Hargrove. The interment will be in the family plot at his home located at 681 Biggs Road, Washington. Pallbearers will be Wesley Wallace, Donald Waters, Steve Swain, Wade Biggs, Ray Harris, Larry Boyd and David Riggins. The entire male body of Five Points FWB Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Special music will be provided by Melinda Boyd of Five Points FWB Church. Dallas was born January 13, 1926, son of the late J.E. Foreman and Nancy Elizabeth Boyd Foreman. He was a 1944 graduate of Bath High School, and on July 17, 1944, he married the former Alla Rae Whitley, who survives. Dallas served his country during World War II during 1944-1945 in the U.S. Army, 84th Div., 333 Reg., 2nd Btn., Company G, 3rd Platoon, at the Battle of the Bulge, where he served as first scout and platoon runner. He served with pride for his country and received the European Theater Medal with three battle stars, good conduct medal and the victory medal. Dallas was a long-standing member of Five Points FWB Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent, teacher and usher. He was employed by Weyerhaeuser Company in Plymouth in the construction department and carpentered for 19 years. He retired with a good record. In addition to his wife, Alla Rae Foreman of the home, he is survived by his three children, Dianna Rae Foreman of Hendersonville, Sherriee Beth Foreman Singleton and her husband, Haywood, of the Free Union Community, and Dallas G. Foreman Jr. and his wife, Mary Reed Foreman, of Raleigh. He is survived by his grandchildren, Tasha Singleton Traud and her husband, Chris, of Greenville, Grant Singleton of Pinetown, Crystal Lee Foreman of Laurinburg, Beverly Gray Foreman and Sarah Beth Foreman, both of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Delsie Foreman Waters of Autumnfield Care Center in Belhaven and Margaret Foreman Woolard Shepherd of Washington. Special mention goes out to the entire Five Points FWB Church and to Marlo and Kay Johnson for their undying love and attention to the care and needs of Dallas and Alla Rae during his lengthy illness. BELHAVEN - Mrs. Katherine “Katy” McClees Foreman, age 87, a resident of 629 Foreman Lane, Belhaven, NC died Monday March 13, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Foreman was born in Purdy, Virginia on November 25, 1918, daughter of the late Dr. James Edgar McClees and the late Katherine Phillips McClees. She graduated from Hobgood High School and continued her education at the former East Carolina Teaching College. On August 13, 1946, she married Roswell Arondal Foreman who survives. Mrs. Foreman later earned her masters degree from East Carolina University. She worked as a teacher at schools in Stokes, Pinetown, Bethel, John A. Wilkinson in Belhaven, Tarboro, Columbia and Pungo Christian Academy in Belhaven. She served as a principal at schools in Pinetown and Princess Ann Courthouse School in Virginia and retired while she worked in a supervisor position in Columbia. Mrs. Foreman was an avid pianist and organist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Washington where she served as a Sundy School Teacher and had the privilege to preach on occasions. Surviving along with her husband, Roswell of the home is a daughter: Ann Foreman of Belhaven; a sister: Margaret Gillie of Mechanicsville, VA; two grandchildren: Kate Webb and her husband, Jody of Belhaven and Jeremy Foreman of Greenville; three great grandchildren: Elizabeth Harris, Kennedy Webb and Zane Foreman. Roswell Arondell Foreman

Mr. Roswell Arondell Foreman, age 88, a resident of 629 Foreman Lane, Belhaven died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at his home. Mr. Foreman was born in Sidney, N.C. on August 13, 1918. He was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Foreman and Addie Snow Foreman. Mr. Foreman was a farmer, cotton mill worker and worked on the railroad. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II. After the service, Mr. Foreman built houses and later became a barber. At the time of his death, he had worked as a barber for over 64 years. Mr. Foreman loved Pungo Creek and developed Foreman Lane. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Washington. Mr. Foreman was married to the former Katherine McClees, who preceded him in death, March 13, 2006. David Freeman, Jr.

Mr. David Freeman Jr., 79, of 414 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington. Helen Sutton Freeman

Helen Sutton Freeman, 88, a resident of Autumnfield, Belhaven, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Pungo District Hospital. She was born in Belhaven, North Carolina on May 27th, 1918 to the late Nancy Brooks Sutton and John Sutton. She graduated from Beaufort County High School (Pantego, NC) in 1936. She attended Elizabeth City State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1940. After working for a while, she returned to school to get her Master’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. Her master thesis was a study of preschool children and was recognized in the Who’s Who in Thesis in 1959. She continued her work in education and taught in the public school system for 37 years retiring in 1978. She was an extraordinary teacher known for her creative ways of helping students learn from crawling on the floor to teaching them how to dance. As a result of her musical ability, she organized glee clubs in the schools and encouraged students to pursue their natural ability and talents. In 1972, she was honored as one of the outstanding elementary school teachers in America. Since that time, she has received several honors from the public school system as well as alumni associations. She was a member of the North Carolina Association of Educators, Beaufort County Teachers Association as well as chairperson of the Comprehensive School Improvement Program. She married Mr. Chester D. Freeman from Roper, North Carolina on May 5, 1942 and they have been together for 64 years. After eleven years of marriage they had their only child, Rev. Chester D. Freeman, Jr. The Freemans grew up in First Baptist Church where Mrs. Freeman’s mother was one of the founding members. Mrs. Freeman holds the title of the longest membership and the oldest member. She served in many capacities over the years: Choir Director, Organist, Pianist, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, and several capacities of president and secretary of church committees. Her outreach extended beyond her local church. She was considered a truly ecumenical person. She served as interim organist and choir director for several denominations from the Saint Reddick Baptist Church, where she was made an honorary member, to the Episcopal Church. She provided vocal as well as instrumental music for weddings, funerals and organizational meetings. She was the founding member of Church Women United and served as president of that organization for several years. She has received several awards from the church, school and community. She received a resolution from the Belhaven Centennial Committee for her contributions to the Belhaven Community. She was always one of the first people to offer food, clothing or assistance when the hurricanes swept through this community. She received a certificate of appreciation from the North Carolina Association of Future Homemakers of America. She always tried to spend time visiting the sick in the hospitals and offering her services whenever possible for volunteer work. Recently she received a lifetime achievement award for her service to First Baptist Church. The church made a proclamation that the church anniversary will be known as Freeman Day. She always encouraged others to do their best and to let their light shine regardless of however small. Survivors include one brother, Clyde Sutton of Bronx, N.Y. David Aaron Fritzler, II

Mr. David “Aaron” Fritzler II, age 26, of 6354 N.C. Hwy 99 S., Belhaven died Monday, January 28, 2008. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Sidney Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. David Pooser. Carroll Selby, Joshua Selby, David Davis, Mark Cordon, Tommy Bonner, Carlton “Moose” Wells, Eric “Bubba” Wells and James Jones will serve as pallbearers. Aaron was born in Beaufort Co. on October 8, 1981 to David Aaron and Juanita Cutler Fritzler who survive. He was a graduate of Northside High School, was a member of Sidney Free Will Baptist Church and worked as a commercial fisherman. Survivors include his parents of the home, David Aaron and Juanita Cutler Fritzler, one brother, Brandon Fritzler of Belhaven, one sister, Katie Fritzler of the home, two nieces, Samantha Williams of Wilmington, Maria Fritzler of Belhaven, maternal grandmother, Shirley Mae Cutler Wells of Phoebus, VA, aunts and uncles, Anita and William Charnock of Hampton, VA, Vera and James Parrish of Oklahoma City, OK, Tammy and Craig Hannum of Poqouson, VA, Carlton Wells of Phoebus, VA, Eric and Angela Wells of Hampton, VA, Marc Fritzler of Maple Plain, MN, Mary Beezley of Colorado Springs, CO, several cousins and extended family and the baby dogs Bacio and Mina. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Fritzler and Marilyn Aurilla Kath Fritzler Christensen, maternal grandfather, James Jarvis Cutler, Jr. and maternal step grandfather, “Papa” Benjamin Macklin Wells. Beulah Mae Stowe Frizzell

Beulah Mae Stowe Frizzell (1926-2005), age 78, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005 at William Beaumont Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Frizzell was born September 10, 1926 at Washington, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Howard Lamar and Alice Mae Singleton Stowe. She was a homemaker, a member of Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church, attended First United Methodist Church in New Hudson, MI, was a former volunteer with Brighton Hospital, and was the first president of Fairview Independent School System PTSA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Graham Frizzell in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Rick Frizzell and his wife Linda of Grosse Ile, MI and Graham Lamonte Frizzell of New Hudson, MI; one daughter, Jane Alice Pushee of Grosse Ile, MI; two brothers, Bobby Marshall Stowe of Bunn, NC and Howard Lamar Stowe, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida; eight grandchildren, Logan, David, Shannon, Amy, Tracy, Sarah, Meghann and Jessica; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church by Rev. Michael Locklear. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Caniff Funeral Home in Ashland, Kentucky and one hour before services Wednesday at the Church. Edith Warren Fulcher
AURORA - Edith Warren Fulcher, 96, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Craven Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Whitehill Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Whitehill Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Marvin Fulcher and his wife, Joyce, of Aurora and Joseph Fulcher and his wife, Betty, of Navarre, Fla.; one daughter, Joyce Gaskins of New Bern; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Fulcher of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Fulcher. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, just prior to the funeral service. Joseph Theodore Fulcher

AURORA - Mr. Joseph Theodore “Ted” Fulcher, 57, of 8062 N.C. Highway 306 South, Aurora, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at his home. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lee Cemetery in the Small community of Aurora with the Rev. David Linton officiating. Mr. Fulcher was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 7, 1949, son of the late Joseph O. Fulcher Jr. and the late Doris Brothers Fulcher. He graduated from Aurora High School. He served in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division as a first-class rigger during the Vietnam War. In civilian life, he was a welder with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, CMF Company and Roberts Company. Mr. Fulcher was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Fulcher. Paul Funeral Home of Washington is serving the Fulcher family. Milton Cedric Fulcher, Jr.

Mr. Milton Cedric Fulcher Jr. of Britthaven of Snow Hill died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 after a prolonged illness. Mr. Fulcher was born in Washington, where he graduated from Washington High School. He served in the Army. He worked as a credit manager in the furniture industry most of his life. Survivors include one brother, John McCoy Fulcher of Washington; one son, John Gerrit Fulcher of Felton, Del., and one daughter, Debbie Fulcher Rinker of Middletown, Ind. Coley Manford Fulford

Coley Manford Fulford, a retired Baltimore County corrections officer, died of a heart attack Monday at Franklin Woods Rehabilitation Center. He was 74 and lived in Middle River. He retired 10 years ago as an officer at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson after 20 years of service. Earlier, he had worked at the former Glenn L. Martin Co. aircraft manufacturing plant in Middle River. Born in Aurora, N.C., where he attended local schools, he moved to Baltimore in 1944. In 1945, he married Eunice Bafford, who survives him. He was a member of Middle River Baptist Church, 610 Middle River Road, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow. He is also survived by a daughter, Shannon Clark of Perry Hall; a brother, Joseph Fulford of Fredericksburg, Va.; and two grandchildren. (The Sun (Baltimore, MD) – November 5, 1999; pg. B5)

Elma Bunday Rollins Fulford

SNOW HILL - Elma Bundy Rollins Fulford went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2008 after battling cancer. Mrs. Fulford was born August 15, 1928 in Beaufort County to James and Annie Baker. She was retired from Collins & Aikman. She was a member of Howell Swamp FWB Church of Walstonburg and also attended services at Monk’s Memorial Church of Farmville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John “Mutt” Bundy, Rev. Robert Rollins and Rev. Nelson Fulford. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Linda Walston and husband John of Walstonburg, Janie Smith and husband Sammy of Fountain, Judy Tyndall and husband Mitch of Snow Hill; her grandchildren, Michelle Price and husband Steve, Brian Walston of Snow Hill and Crystal Weaver and husband T.J. of Winterville; her great grandchildren, Sarah Price, Rebecca Price and Sophia Weaver; sisters Elizabeth Beamon of Chocowinity, Dorothy Barbour of Washington, who was also a special caregiver, Esther Gibbs of Tarboro, Shirley Woolard of Richlands and Joyce Hagwood of Garner; brothers James “Junior” Baker of Snow Hill; sister-in-laws Dorothy Pittman of Farmville (formerly of Wilson) and Ramona Beamon of Snow Hill; step-children Arnet Barton of Holden Beach, Arminta Harrell of Winston-Salem, Nelson Rollins of New Bern, Jimmy Rollins of Wilson, Linwood Rollins of Wilson, Gwen Kennedy of Pink Hill and Jerome Rollins of New Bern. Visitation will be at Farmville Funeral Home Monday night, February 18, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Farmville Funeral Home Tuesday, February 19 at 2 p.m. with interment following at Walstonburg Cemetery. Ms. Ida Ruth Fulford, 65, of 996 Peedtown Road, Aurora, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Peedtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stewart Ham officiating. Burial will follow in Whitehurst Creek Cemetery. Ms. Fulford was born in Beaufort County on March 6, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Jady B. Fulford. She attended the Beaufort County schools. She was a member of Peedtown Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Lena F. Barber of Aurora, Betty Fulford of Patchouge, N.Y., and Patricia F. Ruso of Holbrook, N.Y.; and seven brothers, John Fulford of Riverhead, N.Y., Lee Fulford of Edward, Cornelius Fulford and Sammy Fulford, both of Bridgehampton, N.Y., Charlie Fulford of Chocowinity, Randy Fulford of Plymouth and Alonza Fulford of Brentwood, N.Y. Kent Harwell Fulton

Mr. Kent Harwell Fulton, 58, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at home in Washington, N.C. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service in Washington on Friday evening, July 7, 2006. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington with the Rev. Jay Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. David Howdy, David Norwood, Bruce Niederhauser, George Parker, Rodney Hill and Steve Tanner will serve as pallbearers. Kent is survived by his wife, Kathey B. Fulton, and their daughter, Sarah Downs Fulton. He is also survived by his siblings and their families: Woody and Joyce Fulton of Southport, N.C.; Jan and Neal Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C., and their daughter, Rachel Cousart of St. Louis, Mo.; and Beth Fulton of Winston-Salem, N.C. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Matthew and Emily Cox of Morehead City, N.C. He was vice president of Carolina Wind Yachting Center, Inc., a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain, and past president of the North Carolina Marina Association. He was a lifelong sailing enthusiast, and spent his last day on the water with family and friends. Kent was President of Downtown Washington on the Waterfront. He had resided in Washington since 1985, and believed that Washington offered a special sense of community and enriched quality of life. A native of Winston-Salem, Kent was born on May 2, 1948. His parents were the late James Woodrow Fulton and Ruth Harwell Fulton. Kent graduated from Reynolds High School in 1966. He earned a B.S. degree in mathematics from North Carolina Wesleyan College, a B.S. degree in materials engineering from North Carolina State University, and a master’s in business administration from Duke University. Prior to moving to Washington, Kent worked in the Research Triangle Park in Raleigh for Mead CompuChem and Monsanto Corp. for a number of years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Olga Davis Furbee

PLYMOUTH - Mrs. Olga Davis Furbee, 90, who was a resident of the Plumbee Nursing Center, died Monday evening at the Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Beaufort County, born November 21, 1906, Mrs. Furbee was the daughter of the late David C. and Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd Davis. She was married to the late Holland Allen, who died in 1953, and later remarried Howard J. Furbee who died in 1980. She was a member of the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church at Pantego. Surviving are a son, Williams M. Allen of Pantego, and a daughter, Mrs. Louise Norman of Plymouth, as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Horner-Walker Funeral Home with Lloyd Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Windley Cemetery. Ruth E. Bonner Furcron, 98, of Westville Grove, formerly of Philadelphia, died Sunday at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury. Mrs. Furcron, a homemaker, was born in Washington, N.C., and had lived in Philadelphia before moving to Westville Grove 17 years ago. Survivors: a son and a daughter-in-law, William and Jean Furcron, with whom she lived; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services: private. Arthur W. Furlough, Jr.

ELIZABETH CITY - Arthur W. Furlough, Jr., 78, died Friday afternoon, May 25, 2001, in the Guardian Care Nursing Home. He was born in Washington, N.C. to the late Arthur W. and Laura Ambrose Furlough and was the widower of Clara Dassell Furlough. Mr. Furlough was a retired major of the U.S. Army having served for 26 years, a former agent for State Farm Insurance Co., a member of Mount Tabor Freewill Baptist Church, a Mason and Shriner, and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Furlough is survived by two sisters, Olean Spruill of Chesapeake and Ella Knight of Norfolk; three brothers, Horace Furlough of Monticello, Ark., Jennings Furlough of Brandonburg, Ky., and Frank Furlough of Chocowinity, N.C. He was predeceased by two brothers, Burnie Furlough and Jordan Furlough. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., by Wayne Spruill. Burial will be in the Holy Family Catholic Church Cremation Gardens. The family will greet friends and relatives at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
