Gloria Mae Midgette

Gloria Mae Midgette, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Harvey Branch Midgette Sr., was born October 13, 1951 in Beaufort County, NC.  She departed this life on Monday, November 3, 1975 in Long Island, NY after a brief illness.  She was a member of Zion Temple Baptist Church, a graduate of Belhaven High School.  She was a loving mother and devoted daughter.  She is survived by one daughter, Miss Yolanda J. Midgette of Long Island, NY., her parents Rev. & Mrs. Harvey Midgette Sr., of Belhaven, NC.  three sisters, Mrs. Annie Blackmon of Charlotte, NC., Mrs. Ella Phillips & Miss Bettie Midgette both of Long Island, NY., four brothers, Harvey Midgette Jr., of Florida., Samuel & Oscar Midgette of NY and Willie Midgette of Belhaven, NC., one uncle and two aunts.  (unknown newspaper - Kindly submitted by her daughter, Yolanda Midgette Blackmon)

Lucy Belle Mulchi Midgette

Lucy Belle Mulchi Midgette, 85, of Autumnfield of Belhaven and a former resident of Heber Street in Belhaven, died Wednesday morning, March 26, 1997, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday at the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven with the Rev. Mike Pulliam officiating. A graveside service will be held at 4 pm Friday in Warren-Dale cemetery in Norlina. Mrs. Midgette's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. They are Michael Bowen, Robert Bowen, Steve Midgette, Lin Midgette, Warren Cooksey and Nathan Cooksey. Mrs. Midgette was born August 16, 1911 in Warren County, the daughter of the late W.E. Mulchi and Katie Belle Kinton Mulchi. She attended the Warren County Schools and Louisburg College. In September 1930 she married Linville Edward Midgette, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 2, 1970. Mrs. Midgette made her home in Cary from 1932 until 1980, where she worked as a substitute teacher for several years, and also worked for Taylor Biscuit Co. She moved to Belhaven in 1980 where she attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a past member of the First United Methodist Church of Cary where she served as NYF Youth Director. She was also Worthy Matron of the 8th Chapter of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters: Linda M. Cooksey of Raleigh and Jane M. Bowen of Jacksonville; one son, Linville E. Midgette, Jr. of Belhaven; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Vonnie Allen Midgette

Mrs. Vonnie Allen Midgette, 76, of 23404 N.C. Highway 32 North, Plymouth, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.  A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Smith & Austin Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Thelbert Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Windley Cemetery.  Mrs. Midgette was born in Washington County on Aug. 31, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Allen and Nellie Bowen Allen. She was married to Edward Jackson Midgette, who preceded her in death. She worked for several years at Tayloe’s Hospital Pharmacy and in later years as a homemaker. She was a member of Long Acre Chapel Christian Church, N.C. Highway 32, Plymouth. Survivors include one son, Darrell Midgette of Plymouth; two daughters, Wanda Brinn and Becky Parker, both of Plymouth; one sister, Rachel Stokesberry of Pantego; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, OatLee Newberry and Velma Harris and one brother, Newman Allen.  The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Austin Funeral Home, Plymouth.  (Washington Daily News (Washington, NC) – Thursday, April 20, 2006)


Zudie Belle Pilley Midgette

VIRGINIA BEACH - Zudie Belle Pilley Midgette, 95, of the 700 block of Avella St., died June 14, 2002, in Norfolk.  Born in Beaufort County, N.C., and later resided in the Belhaven area, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Zudie Davis Pilley and was the wife of the late Thomas Midgette.  Survivors include four daughters, Gladys Milligan of Virginia Beach, Anne Keech of Belhaven, N.C., Lula Kirkman of Edenton, N.C., and Janet Ziegler of Virginia Beach; two sons, Thomas ''Mel'' Melbourne Midgette of Virginia Beach and James ''Jimmy'' Midgette of Burton, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, by Elder Larry Dowdy and Jimmy Bennett, minister of Avalon Church of Christ. Mattie Ruth Midyette

Mrs. Mattie Ruth Midyette, 91, of 250 Lover’s Lane, Britthaven of Washington, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.  A funeral will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with the Rev. Curtis Haislip and David Linton officiating. Burial will follow in Ryder Hill Cemetery in Pamlico Beach.  Mrs. Midyette was born in Hyde County on Sept. 22, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Israel and Ellen Berry Mooney. She was married to Ralph Benjamin Midyette, who preceded her in death in 1956. She retired from Samson Shirt Factory where she worked as a seamstress for 25 years. She attended the 15th Street Church of God in Washington as long as her health permitted.  Survivors include one son, Joseph D. Midyette Sr. of Robersonville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Harriett Grace Midyette Peed.  The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, Washington, and other times at the home of her son, 2317 Matthews Road, Robersonville.  (Washington Daily News (Washington, NC) – Saturday, December 15, 2007)


Mary Catherine Millard

Mrs. Mary Catherine Millard of the Sidney Crossroads area, Belhaven, died May 11, 2007 at Pungo District Hospital with her loving family by her side.  Saint Mary, as she was known, was born March 8, 1934 in Allentown, PA. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Francis Gaughan and Mary Brown Gaughan. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Farrell and her special aunt, Alice Brown.  Mary is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Wayne Millard, United States Navy Retired. Together Mary and George raised six devoted children: Wayne Thomas Millard of Elizabeth City, Kathryn Mary Winberry and husband Ed of Bear Creek, Linda Marie Farrell, widow of Robert Farrell of Norfolk, VA, Elizabeth Ann Hughes and husband Ed of Norfolk, VA, Michael Patrick Millard of Front Royal VA, and Carol Eileen McEwen of Norfolk, VA.  Mary Kay graduated from Allentown Catholic High School in Allentown, PA and Bethlehem Business College. She worked as a private secretary in the financial industry until she met and married George and became a dedicated Navy wife. For the next 25 years of George’s 29 year Navy career, the Millards traveled from duty station to duty station and were blessed with six children. They retired to Sidney Crossroads where they have resided for the past 17 years.  Nanny and Poppop, as they were known to their eight grandchildren, were fortunate to live near their Irish angels: Michael David Dassau, now serving in the U.S. Navy, of Silverdale, WA, Rebecca Ann Dassau and fiancé Lucas Grant of Bear Creek NC, Meagan Elizabeth, Mary Katelyn and Hannah Marie Farrell of Norfolk, VA, Ryan Wayne McEwen and Madelyn Anne McEwen of Norfolk, VA, and Sarah Margaret Millard of Front Royal, VA.  Mary also leaves behind three brothers, Thomas, William, and her twin Richard Gaughan all of Pennsylvania, her aunt Helen Tomasko of N. Arlington, NJ, her friend and guardian angel Clemenstine Jones of Pantego as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.  Friends, family and loved ones will gather Tuesday, May 15th at 2:00 pm at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven for a Celebration of her life. Following this brief ceremony, everyone is invited to the Millard home.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mary’s name to Tom Craigens at American Cancer Society’s McConnell-Raab Hope Lodge, 930-A Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834. Also, contributions can be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 628 E. 12th Street, Washington, N.C. 27889, directed by Dr. Jennie Crews, to whom the family will always be eternally grateful.  The family also wishes to express a special heartfelt debt of gratitude to the professional staff and employees of Pungo District Hospital for the loving care they provided to their mother and family on many, many occasions. Anita E. Miller

CHOCOWINITY - Mrs. Anita E. Miller, 66, of 101 Tred Avon Court (Cypress Landing) Chocowinity, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at her home. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, July 14, 2007 in Meadowridge Memorial Park Inc. at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Md. The family will receive relatives and friends at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home following the service for a time of sharing and remembrance. A memorial service will be held at the Bay Club in Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, at a later date. Mrs. Miller was the beloved wife of Douglas W. Miller and devoted mother of Tracey L. Miller. She is also survived by one sister, Kathleen A. Harman; ten nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Cyril Henry and Rosalie Lisowski Valcourt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Bennett and Barbara A. Lance; and a brother, Joseph M. Clair Tyler Miller

BELHAVEN - Claire Tyler Miller, 74, died in the Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven on Saturday, April 19.  Mrs. Miller was born in Leverett, Mass., the daughters of the late F. Raymond Tyler and Elizabeth Adams Tyler.  She was employed as an operator with the Western Union Co. during World War II.  Mrs. Miller was a member of the Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington, and was very active in civic and community affairs of Belhaven, especially the Pungo District Hospital where she served as volunteer and also with Belhaven Shepherds Staff organization.  She was married to Joseph T. Miller in June 1942.  Her husband survives along with a daughter, Kathleen S. Kastner of Salinas, California; four sons: Joseph T. Miller, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Michael A. Miller of Goose Creek, S.C., James T. Miller of Granite Quarry and Peter P. Miller of Ridgeway, Va.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother George Tyler of New Bern; sister Grace Zebert of Vernon Center, N.Y.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Claire Elizabeth Miller in 1980.  A Funeral Mass will be held in Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington, Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Georgia Lawson Miller

Georgia Lawson Miller, 80, died Dec. 27, 1998, at a Virginia Beach hospital.  Born in Pantego, N.C., she was a native of Portsmouth and was the widow of John Kenneth Miller. She was employed with the civil service and was a member of Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church and Retired Officers Wives Society.  She is survived by two sons, Michael K. Chenoweth of Whitestone, Va., and Lawson M. Chenoweth of Richmond, Va.; two grandsons of Richmond; three great-grandchildren of Richmond; a niece, Julie Webb of Virginia Beach and one nephew. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church by the Rev. Richard Dinges. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Ms. Jenny Bates Miller, 44, of 19820 N.C. Samuel Woodie Miller, Jr.

ORANGEBURG - Services for the Rev. Samuel Woodie Mille,r Jr., 68, of 2128 Clifton Circle will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church.  The Rev. Miller died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994. Born in Washington, N.C., he was a son of the late S. Woodie Miller and Minnie Miller Savage. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, attended Lutheran Southern Seminary and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as a field representative with the Department of Social Security and was an ordained Episcopal priest. He was associate rector of Church of the Redeemer and rector at Epiphany Church of Eutawville, St. Matthias Church of Summerton, Good Shepherd Church of Sumter, St. Augustine's of Wedgefield, Church of the Holy Communion of Allendale and Church of the Heavenly Rest of Estill.  Surviving are his wife, Mildred Suitt Miller; a daughter, Amy Snyder of Greenville; sisters, Catherine Oglesby of Newport, N.C., Cora Matta of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Sally Walker of Raleigh; and one grandchild.  (The State (Columbia, SC) – September 22, 1994; pg. Gladys Marie Milligan

Gladys Marie Milligan, 68, of the 3800 block of Forest Glen Road, went to be with the Lord Jan. 22, 2003. She was born in Pinetown, N.C. and was a member of Avalon Church of Christ in Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Z. Belle Midgette; and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Milligan.  She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, James E. Milligan; daughter, Louise B. Hill and husband James of Virginia Beach; two brothers, T. Melbourne Midgette of Virginia Beach and James M. Midgette of South Carolina; three sisters, Anne Keech of North Carolina, Lula Belle Kirkman of North Carolina and Janet Ziegler of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Alaena Rothwell of Indiana, Charles Tucci of Norfolk and Jesse Duris of Ohio; and one great-grandchild, Gina Walker of Indiana.  A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, conducted by Minister Jimmy Bennett with burial in Princess Anne Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Avalon Church of Christ, 844 Woodstock Road, Virginia Beach. Lillie D. Milliron, 70, Inversion Street, Orlando, died Monday, Sept. 30. Mrs. Milliron was a homemaker. Born in Belhaven, N.C., she moved to Central Florida in 1971. She was Protestant. Survivors: husband, Richard H.; daughters, Christine M. Lund, Janet Miller, both of Orlando, Patricia Richards, Charlotte, N.C.; brother, William B. Francis, Charlotte; sister, Elizabeth Carnes, Monroe, N.C.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Edna Hardee Mills

Mrs. Edna Hardee Mills, 79, of 2007 E. Redman Ave., Greenville, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Beaufort County Hospital.  A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, with William Roger Cates officiating.  Mrs. Mills was born Jan. 5, 1927, to the late Snodie and Laura Dixon Hardee. She married Horace Brooks Mills who preceded her in death on April 18, 1990. She was a graduate of Grimesland High School and was retired from Singer Furniture Company.  Survivors include four sisters, Barbara Cates of Greenville and Evelyn Brodgen, Louise Mazie and Callie Gray Buck, all of Chesapeake, Va.  She was preceded in death by one brother, James Hardee.  The family will receive friends today from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.  (Washington Daily News (Washington, NC) – Saturday, October 21, 2006)


Edward Earl Mills

Edward Earl Mills, 50, of Odessa, died Monday (Feb. 12, 1990) at HCA of New Port Richey. He was born in Chocowinity, N. C., and lived in the bay area most of his life. He was a heavy-equipment operator in the construction industry and an Army veteran. He was a member of the Elks Club of Port Charlotte. Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda North and Emily Maddox, both of Odessa, and Shawn Mills, New Port Richey; three sisters, Betsy Mills and Brenda Mills, both of North Carolina, and Emily Grate, Port Charlotte; a brother, Johnie, North Carolina; and five grandchildren. Fannie Lee Norris Mills

Mrs. Fannie Lee Norris Mills, 90, of 361 Middle Street, Aurora, NC, died Monday, October 30, 2006.  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Aurora United Methodist Church, Aurora, NC with the Rev. Claude Nethercutt officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, NC. Stanley Norris, Fenner E. Norris, Tommie Norris, Jessie Mills, Webster Wallace, and Billy Thompson will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Aurora United Methodist Church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home.  Mrs. Mills was born October 29, 1916 in Chocowinity, NC. She was the daughter of Fannie Barr and Fenner Norris. She attended Washington Collegiate Institute and graduated from Washington High School. On December 23, 1939, she married Jasper Winslow Mills, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Aurora United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, loving wife and devited mother. She was a delightful conversationalist and a joy to those privileged to call her a friend. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and handwork. She was a master artisan of crochet and embroidery, creating delicate pieces of beautiful finery.  Mrs. Mill was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Norris Mills; four brothers, Johnnie Norris, P.A. Norris, Lester Norris and, Fenner Norris, Jr. and two sisters, Lizzie Norris Brame and Lorena Norris Clark.  She is survived by two sons, Jasper Lee Mills, and his wife, Leslie and Charles Mills, all of Aurora. She is also survived by a brother, William E. Joshua Wright Mills. Sr.

Mr. Joshua “Josh” Wright Mills, Sr., age 85, a resident of 61 N.C. Hwy. 33 East, Chocowinity died Thursday afternoon, January 17, 2008 in Washington.  A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. on Sunday January 20, 2008 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Dr. Richard D. Sheriff. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  Mr. Mills was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1922, son of the late Joseph Cleveland Mills and Lucy Mae Smith Mills. He was a 1942 graduate of Chocowinity High School. On March 9, 1943, he married the former Lyndal A. Dixon, who survives. He was owner/operator of Smith Mills Pontiac-Buick and J.M. Motors in Williamston. He was co-owner of 5 J’s Inc. in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Mills was a member of the Optimist Club in Baltimore, the American Legion in Washington and the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity.  In addition to his wife, Lyndal of the home, he is survived by his sons: Josh Mills, Jr. and wife, Donna of Baltimore, Md. and Joe David Mills and his wife, Carol of Washington; his five grandchildren: Joe David Mills, Jr. of Newport, Jennifer Mills and Olivia Dorroll and her husband, Phil all of Wilmington, Beth Flynn of Baltimore, Md. and Bradley Burman of San Jose, Calif.; his four great- grandchildren: David and Caleb of Newport and Brianna and Kyle of Baltimore, Md.; his sister: Lucy Mae Alligood of Washington; his special caregiver, Sue Nobles and many friends, near and far. Lucy Jane Mills

Ms. Lucy Jane Mills, age 60, a resident of 723 NC Hwy. 33 West, Chocowinity, NC died Monday December 31, 2007 at the Beaufort County Hospital.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday January 2, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. George Jones and Rev. Richard Sheriff. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Tommy Boyd, Aubrey Moore, Andrew Wells, Harold Smith, James Wells and Jon Wells will serve as pallbearers.  Ms. Mills was born in Beaufort County on October 12, 1947 daughter of the late Jesse Elmer Mill, Sr. and Aileen Buck Mills who survives. She was a graduate of the former Chocowinity High School and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. Ms. Mills worked for thirty years at the Beaufort County Hospital. She was a member of Chocowinity United Methodist Church.  Surviving along with her mother Aileen Mills of Chocowinity is a sister: Patsy Jones Lang and her husband Harold of Kinston; two nephews: Gary Hodges and his wife Cindy of Windsor and Ted Hodges and his wife Dr. Shandal Emanuel of Rocky Mount; three nieces: Natalie Jones of Chocowinity, Christy Fyle and her husband Tom of Wilson and Jessica Mills of Chocowinity; great nephews and nieces: Nicholas and Lauren Dotson, Katie, Amanda and Tommy Fyle, Julie, Jessica and Gerringer Hodges and Sequoia Hodges; a special Aunt: Janice Boyd and two special friends: Dawn Carawan and Nellie Downing.  The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Tuesday January 1, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.  Paul Funeral Home of Washington is serving the Mills family.  (Paul Funeral Home obituary)

Mrs. Mary Weston Mills, 96, a resident of Aurora, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Britthaven of Pamlico.  A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ with the Rev. Shirley Frank Mills

Shirley Frank Mills, 74, of the 800 block of Mildenhall Drive and a former resident of Woodards Mill, Chesapeake, died Dec. 7, 1998, in Chesapeake General Hospital.  Mr. Mills was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 16, 1924, to the late James Coss and Mildred Campen Mills. He was married to Carolyn Keller on Feb. 9, 1966. He was the owner and operator of Midland Petroleum Co. and GSC Inc. of Chesapeake. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Chocowinity, N.C., a supporter of the Chocowinity Ruritan Club and former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 0898 in Portsmouth.  Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Keller Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald ''Lisa'' Thornburg and Mrs. William ''Shirley'' Davis, both of Chesapeake; two sons, Jack Mills and Tim Mills, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Mills Long of Washington, N.C., Mrs. Margaret Mills Bagg and Mrs. Maude Mills Miller, both of New Bern, N.C.; a brother, Edward Mills of Cottage Grove, Ore.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred M. Dixon (1968); three brothers, William Joseph Mills (1974), Horace B. Mills (1990) and James C. Mills Jr. (1996).  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Cemetery in Chocowinity, N.C., by the Rev. Frank Garrison. William Earl Mills, Sr.

Mr. William Earl Mills, Sr., 70, resident of 326 Gray Road, Chocowinity, transitioned from this life Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  A funeral service will be conducted Friday 3 p.m. at The Temple of Jesus Christ United Church with Dr. Alonza St. Clair and Dr. Catherine St. Clair officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  A native of Ayden, Mr. Mills was born in Pitt County on Oct. 5, 1936 to the late Fernando Mills and Alice Corey Mills.  William was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Rose Linwood, Fernando, Alton (Cal), and Robert Mills, and his only sister, Verna Lee Ellison.  Earl was an active member of the Chocowinity community volunteering as a member of the local American Red Cross Society and serving as a board member. He was a member of St. James CME Church where he served as trustee and a member of the steward board. He retired from Dupont in 1996 after 32 plus years.  He is survived by his wife, Juanita St. Clair Mills; two sons, William E. H. Reid Mitchell

Mr. H. Reid Mitchell, Jr., age 90, a resident of 309 Alderson Road, Smallwood, Washington, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at his home. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by the Rev. Danny Allen and the Rev. Susan Harrison.  Mr. Mitchell was born in Washington on October 3, 1917. He was the son of the late Henry Reid Mitchell, Sr. and Fannie Tingle Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell attended Washington City Schools, Duke University where he was a member of the Class of 1939, and Travelers School of Insurance in Hartford, Conn. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he served the European Division, Air Transport Command, stationed in London and Paris.  Mr. Mitchell was a retired insurance agent and business owner. He owned and operated H. Reid Mitchell, Jr. Insurance and Bonds for 50 years. Mr. Mitchell was a life- long member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee and President of the Frank Ruble Sunday School Class.  Mr. Mitchell was a dedicated servant to his community. He contributed to the beautification and renewal of the Washington waterfront and a better standard of living for the town’s poorest citizens by serving as chairman of the City of Washington Urban Renewal and Housing Study Group. Mr. Mitchell served as chairman of the first Washington Redevelopment Commission which planned Washington’s public housing, Stewart Parkway and cleared substandard housing and dilapidated warehouses in parts of Washington. He served on the Board of Education for the Washington City Schools from 1969 to 1971. As the board vice chairman, he helped oversee the peaceful and successful integration of the schools.  Mr. Mitchell promoted recreational opportunities for the young people by sponsoring the Mitchell-Kemper Tennis Tournament in the mid-1970s that later became the Mitchell-Dr. Pepper Tennis tournament. He sponsored a Youth League Baseball team for many years.  Among civic activities, Mr. Mitchell was a member and past President of Washington Rotary Club, member and past President of the Beaufort County Shrines Club, member and Master of Orr Lodge, member and past Commander of the Washington Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard, member of the New River Power Squadron and was appointed by Gov. Bob Scott to the N.C. Committee of Water Safety in 1970. He was a member of Washington Jaycees, member and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the George H. and Laura E. Brown Library, member of the Advisory board for the local Salvation Army and member of the Curriculum Advisory Committee of Beaufort County Community College.  Mr. Mitchell was a charter member of the Iron Dukes athletic booster club at Duke University and charter member of the Washington Yacht and Country Club.  On June 12, 1948, Mr. Mitchell married the former Julia Latham, who died, October 17, 1996.  His daughter, Julia “Betty” Mitchell Gray and her husband, Richard H. Rupert Gordon Mixon

Rupert Gordon Mixon, 82, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (July 18, 1995) at St. Anthony's Hospital. Born in Beaufort County, N.C., he came here in 1955 from the Panhandle. Charlie Bennett Mizelle

Mr. Charlie Bennett “C.B.” Mizelle, age 79, a resident of 3620 Voice of America Road, Washington, died Tuesday evening, January 23, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday January 27, 2007 at the Wesleyan Pentecostal Church, officiated by Daniel Woods. Burial will follow in Snowd Branch Church of God Cemetery.  Monty Griffin, Mike Connell, Joel Mizelle, Garyn Mizelle, Nathan Lapp and Kenny Beacham will serve as pallbearers.  Mr. Mizelle was born in Beaufort County on October 17, 1927, son of the late Nathan Mizelle and Gertie Viola Cratt Mizelle. On April 9, 1949, he married the former Betty Joyce Cowen who survives. He was a farmer and worked with Rumley Motor Supplies as a parts salesman and mechanic.  Mr. Mizelle was the oldest member of Wesleyan Pentecostal Church and served as an elder. He was one of the original founders of the church, was a guitarist and sang at church. God, his church and his family were his life.  In addition to his wife, Betty of the home, he is survived by his daughters: Gayle M. Jones of Tarboro, Kay M. Edmondson of Everetts, Sue M. Bonner of Washington and Joyce M. Buck of Grimesland; his son: Charlie “Benny’ Mizelle, Jr. of Washington; his sister: Shelby M. Prior to retiring, he was a self-employed carpenter.  He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jackson Mizelle; son, Glysal D. Mizelle and his wife, Karla of Chesapeake; daughters, Patricia A. Margaret Mayo Watson Mizelle

Mrs. Margaret Mayo Watson Mizelle, age 78, a resident of Vintage Inn, Hwy. 17 South in Williamston, died on January 9, 2007 at Martin General Hospital.  A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington and will be officiated by Greg Sexton. She was married in 1945 to the late Lawrence Watson Sr. She later married William Herbert Mizelle Sr. in July 1952. Mrs. Mizelle worked as a cashier at Colonial and Big Star Grocery Stores for many years.  Survivors include: her children, Jeanie Watson of Bunn, Lawrence Watson II and his wife Diana of Chocowinity, Billy Mizelle and his wife Lisa of Greenville, Anna DeGeest of Williamston; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Johnnie J. Mobley

Johnnie J. ''Cabbage Head'' Mobley, 50, died March 18, 2000.  He was born in Washington, N.C., and was employed as a grinder in the Wood Yard Department of International Paper Co. with 28 years of service. He was a member of the Bronco Rod and Gun Club and Franklin Presbyterian Church.  Survivors include his mother, Emily Tyer Mobley of Franklin; a son, Jonathan Clark Mobley of Franklin; a sister, Christine Elizabeth Guerra of Coppas Cove, Texas; and five brothers, William Ashley Mobley of Como, N.C., Billy Mack Mobley of Decatur, Ala., Mickel Mobley of Hendricks, W.Va., Jowel Thomas Mobley of Courtland and Clifton Ray Mobley of Atlanta. Robert York Mobley

Mr. Bobby York Mobley, age 72, a former resident of 806 River Road, Washington died Saturday September 1, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday September 4, 2007 at the Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. He was a 1953 graduate of Pantego High School and for many years, Mr. Mobley worked in the automotive industry as a salesman at Lee Chevrolet. On June 12, 1954 he married Wanda Agnes Jozwiak Mobley who survives. Rosa Jane Ball Mobley

Mrs. Rosa Jane Ball Mobley, 96, of 2688 Race Track Road, Robersonville, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at her daughter’s home, 205 N. In 1934, she married William Earl Mobley, who preceded her in death March 28, 1978. She retired as a seamstress with Southern Apparel. She was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ.  Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Terrell of Williamston; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lorraine M. Harrison, in 1998; one sister, Lillie Mae Whitehurst; and one brother, Joseph O. She graduated from Bath High School. On March 14, 1942, she married Henry S. Modlin Sr., who preceded her in death in February 1985. She was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of Hunter’s Bridge Church of Christ.  Survivors include three sons, Larry Ball Modlin Sr. of Grafton, Va., Jerry Andrew Modlin of the home and Henry S. James Russell Modlin, Jr.

Margie Clark Modlin

She was the daughter of the late John H. Clark and Emma Tetterton Clark. On June 4, 1932, she married Burley Leamon Modlin, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 15, 1971. Mrs. Modlin was a homemaker and a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ.  She is survived by her children: Roscoe Modlin, Sr. of Swan Quarter, Shelby M. Mizell of Bath; Linda M. Mizelle and Frankie H. Modlin both of Washington; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.  Roland Blount Modlin

Mr. Roland Blount Modlin, age 90, of 41 Indian Trail, Washington, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Beaufort Co. Hospital.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Danny Allen. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville. Jack Honeycutt, Robert W. Tyndall, Bobby Roberson, G. William Taylor III, J.C. Bernhardt and A. McRay Jones Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Washington will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Mr. Modlin was born in Bertie Co. on October 21, 1917 to the late Cecil Edward Modlin and Clara Knowles Modlin. He was married to the former Mary Catherine Woolard on February 2, 1942 who preceded him in death on December 16, 1995. On June 7, 1997 he married Dora Harris who survives. Mr. Modlin was a graduate of Farmville High School and Norfolk Business College, he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, retired Assistant Vice President of Wachovia Bank of Washington, and a charter and lifetime member of the Washington Kiwanis Club. Mr. Modlin was a Life Scout of the Boy Scouts of America, and served in many leadership executive roles. He also was chairman of the Washington - Beaufort Bicentential Commission and was instrumental in the aquisition of the Atlantic Coastline Railroad Station, which now serves as the Washington Civic Center. Mr. Modlin was also active in many capacities for over 30 years with the March of Dimes. For 25 years he made wooden crosses from the church’s Chrismon trees for children. He enjoyed spending time on the river, sailing, was reknowned for his woodcraft projects, and most of all the love that he shared with his family.  Survivors include his wife Dora of the home, his children, William “Wooly” Modlin and wife Saundra of Myrtle Beach, R. Former resident of Pinetown, NC born Jan. 5, 1952 lost his battle with cancer, at his residence in Clearwater, FL. on Jan. 21, 2007. Terry leaves behind his companion of 12 years, Donna Barnes and her son Zac Barnes, 5 children, Jennifer Shaw, Terry Modlin Jr., Chris Modlin, Patrick Modlin, and Barbara Jene Modlin, 4 grandchildren, Blake, Geordan, Tyler, and Sean. His mother Rachel M. Foster, sisters, Barbara M. Midyette, Rita M. Clary, Lucille M. Houston, all of Pinetown, NC and Rachel Lou Varner of Richmond, VA. Karla Meekins Mooney

FAIRFIELD - Karla Meekins Mooney, 43, of Fairfield, died March 20, in Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven. Born in Belhaven, she was the daughter of Doris Gibbs Meekins of Engelhard and the late Hilton Linwood Meekins. She grew up in Stumpy Point and moved back to Hyde County in 1972. She had worked for several years for the N.C. Forestry Service and also had substututed for teachers at Cabin Swamp Christian Academy in Tyrrell County. She was a sunday school teacher and an active member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, Donald Ray Mooney; three children: Heather and Jeremy, both students of Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City and Hilary Mooney of the home; her mother; her maternal grandmother, Nancy Gibbs of Engelhard; a brother, Hilton L. Meekins, Jr. of Bath; and a sister, Avis M. Mecolick of Kinston. Funeral services were held in Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Fairfiled with Phil Emmert, minister, Leon Williams and Raffael Farrow, Jr. officiating. Almeta Bryant Moore

Ms. Almeta Bryant Moore, 84, of 447 Kingsborough, Brooklyn, N.Y., died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at home.  A funeral will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Edward, with the Rev. Willie L. Langley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Ms. Moore was born in the Bonnerton community of Beaufort County. She had lived in New York for many years. She was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on many auxiliaries.  Survivors include one daughter, Edna M. Calhoun of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Mary Bryant Moore of Norfolk, Va.; and three grandchildren.  The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Ann Bryant, 22853 N.C. Alta Riddick Moore

Mrs. Alta Riddick Moore, of 95 Swamp Road, Pantego, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007.  A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Antioch Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Pantego, with Elder Mack Freshwater officiating and eulogist Vice Bishop Melvin Scott. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.  Mrs. Moore was born April 6, 1908 in Pantego. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Minnie Brown Riddick. She was educated in the Beaufort County Schools. She graduated from State Normal Teachers College (now known as Elizabeth City State University) in Elizabeth City. She taught primary grade levels for 42 years in the Beaufort County Schools. She was married to the Rev. George W. Moore, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Antioch Disciple Church of Christ in Pantego, where she served in a number of positions including church secretary.  Survivors include one foster daughter, Justine Spence and two sons-in-kind, Gregory Riddick and Albert Baker.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Harrell and two brothers, Frank Riddick Sr. and James C. Arthur Moore, Sr.

Arthur ''Baby Ray'' Moore, Sr., of the 200 block of 32nd St., a self-employed mechanic, died June 13, 1994, in a local hospital.  Mr. Moore was born in Washington, N.C.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katherine Moore of Norfolk; two daughters, Emma Wynn of Norfolk and Angela Stephenson of Portsmouth; a son, Arthur Moore Jr. of Norfolk; a sister, Lillian Lewis of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; a brother, John B. Bettie Lucandy Wiggins Moore

Mrs. Bettie Lucandy Wiggins Moore, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.  A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in Mary’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Washington, with Bishop Carlton Keys officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on May 22, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Fulford and Fredanne Moore Wiggins. She attended the Ware Creek Rosenwald School in Blounts Creek. On Oct. 17, 1940, she married Cecil D. Moore, who preceded her in death. She was a retired housekeeper. She was a member of Mt. Calvary United Holy Church and was later affiliated with Mary’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the mother deacon’s board.  Survivors include one daughter, Beulah Barrow of Washington; two sons, Cecil B. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Beebe Chapel C.M.E. Church, where she served in many capacities, the last being mother of the church.  Survivors include one daughter, Alice M. Charlsie Matthews Moore

Mrs. Charlsie “Midge” Matthews Moore, 84, of 1120 Cowell Farm Road, Washington and formerly of Chocowinity, died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital.  A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2007 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens with Pastor Phillip Jethro officiating.  The family will receive friends from Noon to the funeral hour at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at the home of her daughter, Linda Lane, 146 Wood Duck Drive, Washington and at the home of her son, Joe Price, 269 Mansfield Road, Washington.  Mrs. Moore was born July 4, 1923 in Marion County, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late W.J. Matthews and Daisy Kennedy Matthews. On June 16, 1962, she married James “Jimmy” Raymond Moore, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2006. She worked as a cosmetologist in Chattanooga and South Pittsburg, Tenn. Her remaining years in Washington and Chocowinity she was owner and operator of Town & Country Beauty Shop and Mi- Lady’s for a total of 55 years of service. She was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.  Survivors include two daughters, Linda Price Lane and her husband, Sonny of Washington and Lisa Moore Carroll of Oregon; two sons, Jerry Price and his wife, Pat of Highland Springs, Va. and Joe Price and his wife, Deborah of Washington; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Matthews of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice M. Walker, Lillian Matthews and Ruth M. McCullough, and five brothers, Herman Matthews, Herschel Matthews, James W. David Lee Moore

SOMERVILLE - David Lee Moore, 60, died Tuesday (July 22, 2003) at home. Born in Aurora, N.C., formerly of Plainfield, he resided in Somerville for the past 14 years.  Mr. Moore was employed by Consolidated Corp., Piscataway, as a machinist for 10 years. He had also worked as a material handler at Revlon in Edison and he did landscaping in Hillsborough.  Surviving are his devoted friend, Murdell Harris of Somerville three sons, Timothy Jones, Willie Lee Jones and Allen Ray Jones, all of Greenville, N.C. his daughter, Joyce Jones of Greenville, N.C., a foster daughter, Shenika Boyd of Plainfield two sisters, Peggy Moore of Gastonia, N.C., and Jessica Freeman of Union and two brothers, Syran Moore and Dan Moore, both of Silver Springs, Md.  Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Judkins Colonial Home, preceded by visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. until the time of service.  (Courier News (Bridgewater, NJ) – July 25, 2003; pg. She was a graduate of the former S.W. Snowden High School. She was married to Jessie Moore, who survives. She was employed with Stanadyne Corp. for several years.  Survivors include one daughter, Paulette Murphy of Greensboro; one son, Burgess Moore of Blounts Creek; one grandchild; and siblings, Bishop Larry Moore of Fayetteville, Elder Rufus Moore of Chocowinity, David Moore Jr., Lindsey Moore, Jasper Moore, Bradford Moore, Blounts Creek; Armental M. Eddie Moore

Mr. Eddie Moore, 83, a resident of the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Fayetteville, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville.  A funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church at Bonnerton with Minister Edwin I. Moore and the Rev. Demetrius Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories at Blounts Creek.  Mr. Moore was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Lewelyn M. Moore and Isaac Moore. He attended and graduated from the S.W. Snowden High School in Aurora. Mr. Moore was a retired maintenance technician with the former Texasgulf Inc., now PCS Phosphate. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church at Bonnerton.  On Sept. 26, 1946, Mr. Moore was married to Earla Roland Moore who survives.  Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline C. Jones of Charlotte; two sons, Alvin A. Moore of Washington and Edwin I. Moore of Grimesland; one sister, Cora M. Powell of Bonnerton and five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two daughters, Earlene L. Moore and Valencia S. Moore.  The family will receive friends at the home of his wife Earla R. Edward O. Moore, 57, of the 4400 block of Swaine Court, a retired heavy equipment operator, died April 18, 1993.  Mr. Moore was born in Blunts Creek, N.C. Dunks and son-in-law, Wesley Dunks, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Bearl Lex of Chesapeake and Lenay Woolard of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Lenol Moore of Chocowinity, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Marissa and Spencer.  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. She was the daughter of the late Malachi and Jessie F. Moore Keyes. She attended the Beaufort County schools. She was employed at Britthaven Nursing Home prior to her retirement. She was a member of Saint Union Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors include four daughters, Lucy M. Harper of Chocowinity, Lucinda M. Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Pearlie M. McClaney and Hazel J. Moore, both of Blounts Creek; three sons, Daniel Moore Sr. of Washington, Thomas Moore of Blounts Creek and Albert D. Ida Mae Moore, 73, of the 600 block of Rock Road, died June 3, 1992, in a hospital.  Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County, N.C. James Raymond Moore

James “Jimmy” Raymond Moore, 80, of 39 Main Street, Chocowinity, died Thursday, November, 30, 2006 at the Beaufort County Hospital.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jesse Crisp officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington and other times at the home.  Mr. Moore was born January 13, 1926 in Beaufort County.  He was the son of the late Alonzo and Annie Clark Moore.  On June 16, 1962, he married Charlsie “Midge” Matthews, who survives.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving during WWII and participated in seven major engagements. Mr. Moore was the owner/operator of J.R. Moore Bulldozer Service.  He was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity and a member of V.F.W. Post # 6088.  Survivors include his wife, Charlsie “Midge” Moore; one daughter, Linda Price Lane and her husband, Sonny of Washington; two sons, Jerry Price and his wife, Pat of Highland Springs, VA and Joe Price and his wife, Deborah of Washington; two sisters, Frankie M. Edwards and Faye M. He later married Virginia Stilley, who also preceded him in death. On Nov. 9, 1991, he married Damie M. Moore, who survives. Throughout his lifetime, he was affiliated with St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church and St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors include two daughters, Velmon Jones of Newport News, Va., and Delois Gaskins of Edward; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.  The family will receive friends at the home.  Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. John E. Moore

Mr. John E. Moore, 80, of 107 Heron Lane, Bath, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.  No public service will be held.  Mr. Moore was born May 20, 1927, in Pitt County. He was the son of the former Annie Ruth Barwick and Elbert Allen Moore, who both preceded him in death. On Nov. 27, 1994, he married the former Ruby Paul. He was a graduate of Kinston High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. As a general contractor for 35 years, he was involved in many historical renovation projects. Moore was a resident of North Carolina for 25 years. He attended Bath Christian Church.  Survivors include his wife, Ruby Paul Moore of Bath; three sons, John A. Moore of Falls Church, Va., Mark V. Moore of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sam A. Moore of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; two daughters, Mary C. Mr. Larry Donell Moore, 56, of 207 Cherry Lane, Chocowinity, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.  A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Whichard Chapel Holy Church of Power, Inc., 2659 Worthington-Warren Road, Stokes, with Bishops Elijah Cabbagestalk and John T. Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.  Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on April 15, 1950. He was the son of the late Gertrude Little Ewell. He graduated from Washington High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work with a concentration in gerontology from East Carolina University, Greenville. He was employed with Caswell Center in Kinston as a social worker. On Dec. 25, 1970, he married Goldie Ebron Moore, who survives. He was pastor of Whichard Chapel Holy Church of Power, Inc., Stokes, and Little Grove Holy Church of Power, Washington.  Survivors include one daughter, Natalie Moore of Washington; four sons, Isaac Moore of Chocowinity, Corey Moore of Durham, Stephen Moore of Nashville, N.C., and Michael Moore of the home; one sister, Thelma Jones of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Jesse Moore of Blounts Creek, and Stevenson Moore of Washington; and four grandchildren.  The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Little Grove Holy Church of Power, 312 Van Norden St., Washington, and other times at the home.  Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Lenol Moore, 76, of Chocowinity, N.C., died Saturday at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington, N.C. A native of Blounts Creek, N.C., he was a retired automobile mechanic. Luddie Mae Waters Moore

Mrs. Luddie Mae Waters Moore, 87, a resident of Britthaven of Washington, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Britthaven.  A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church, Bonnerton, with Elder Demetrius Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Blounts Creek.  Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on July 13, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Moore Waters. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. On Dec. 22, 1943, she married Ralph Swain Moore, who preceded her in death May 6, 1997. She retired as a housekeeper with PCS Phosphate Co., Aurora. She was a member of St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as a former choir member.  Survivors include one son, Ralph Moore of Washington and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.  The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Mary Emily Brown Moore

Mary Emily Brown Moore, age 83, a resident of 205 Willow Court, Washington, NC died Sunday November 12, 2006 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.  A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday November 15, 2006 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Charles Kettlewell. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  Mrs. Moore was born in Montgomery, Alabama on May 9, 1923 daughter of the late William Aubrey Williams and the late Alpha Broxson Williams. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Raleigh and continued her education at Auburn University where she earned a BS Degree in Medical Technology. While at Auburn she met Ralph McCurley Brown and they were married. Mr. Brown preceded her in death on August 6, 1988. On December 22, 1991 she married Samuel T. Moore, Sr. and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2005. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Washington, was a former member of her church Altar Guild, a past member of Adisco Book Club of Washington and the Pamlico Garden Club.  Survivors include a daughter: Carolyn Phillips and her husband, Greg of Matthews, NC; a step daughter: Elizabeth Ann Moore of Washington; a step son: Sam T. Moore, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Currituck; a brother: Bill Williams of Sandston, VA; a sister: Ann Carolyn Davenport of Columbia; four grandchildren: Sande Quintana of Missouri, K.T. Brown of Orlando, FL, Anne Christine Huy of Auburn, Alabama and Mary Emily Phillips of Matthews, NC; three step grandchildren: Nancy M. Hulsey and her husband, Mike of Newnan, GA, Elizabeth M. Darden and her husband, Bobby of Hertford and Christopher L. Barns and his wife Christine, of Chesapeake, VA; two great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a son: K.T. Matilda Hooker Moore

Matilda Hooker Moore, 89, of 1943 Mauls Point Road, Blounts Creek, died Feb. 14, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.  A funeral service will be conducted Monday at noon at Ware Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Charles Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ware Creek Cemetery.  Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 28, 1917 to the late Nathan Hooker Sr. and Hattie S. Hooker. She attended the Beaufort County Schools and was a member of Ware Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board prior to declining health.  She was married to Joseph Moore who preceded her in death. Survivors are a sister, Hattie Robinson of New Bern; a brother, Nathan Hooker of Washington; a daughter, Leona M. Carter of the home; a son, Lawrence Moore of Goldsboro; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends at the home. Melvina Smith Moore

Burial will follow in the Smith family cemetery, Blounts Creek.  Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 2, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Oliver and Ruth J. Moore Smith. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was married to Noah S. Moore, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors include two sons, John A. Moore of Blounts Creek and Vardell Moore of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Evelyn E. Moore of Washington; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Melba S. Marsh; one son, Clarence O. Moore and her siblings, Oliver Smith Jr., Isreal Smith, Luke Smith, Tom Smith, Elliot Smith and Matilda S. Mr. Robert Edward Moore, age 79, a resident of 362 Moore Lane, Bath, NC died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the home of his daughter Jade Harris located at 1827 Boyd Loop Road, Pinetown, NC.  A graveside funeral will be held 12 Noon Thursday February 21, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by Randy Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Boyd, Onnie Boyd, Kenneth Cox, Preston Cutler, George Elliott IV, Mark Elliott, James Everett, Oscar Lilley, Alpheus Lewis, Horace Moore and Jasper Woolard.  Mr. Moore was born in Beaufort County on September 26, 1928, son of the late Willie Gray Moore and the late Lillian Mae Andrews Moore. He was a 1948 graduate of Bath High School. Mr. Moore married the former Doris Fae Woolard on October 23, 1948, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. He delivered newspapers for fifty years; was an avid hunter, fisherman and nature lover. His grandsons were the light of his life and he enjoyed showing them the world through his eyes. Mr. Moore was a member of Athens Chapel Church of Christ.  Survivors include three daughters: Jade H. Harris and her husband Edwin of Pinetown, Melanie D. Moore of Wilmington and Lael M. Pelt and her husband Jimmy of Blowing Rock; two brothers: Billy Moore and Kenneth A. She was a graduate of Madison Township High School in New Jersey and received an associate degree from Brookdale Community College in New Jersey. She was an Air Force veteran. She was a nursing coordinator for Almost Family in Sarasota, Fla., prior to moving to North Carolina. She was a member of American Legion Post No. 276. Alma Morgan

Alma Morgan, 78, of 4114 Schaper Ave., died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at Integrated Health Services of Erie at Bayside.  She was born in Bath, N.C., Jan. 9, 1920.  She worked as a domestic and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.  She is survived by the Rev. Mr. James Perry “J.P.” Morgan Jr., 31, of Dover, died Monday, July 10, 2006, in Miami, Fla.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with the Rev. Sarah Elizabeth Taylor Morgan

Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Morgan, of West Euclid St., Hartford, died Sunday, (June 16, 1996) at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center in Wallingford, after a long illness. She was born in Washington, NC and has been a resident of Hartford since 1953. Mrs. Morgan was a faithful worshiper at the Metropolitan Afircan Methodist Episcopal Zion Church of Hartford, where she served many years as a Sunday School Teacher. She is a graduate of the University of Hartford and a retiree of the State of Connecticut following over 25 years of service. She was a beloved member of Adah Chapter No. 22 Order Eastern Star. Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband of 50 years, John S. Morgan, Jr.; three sons, Malcolm Morgan of Hartford, Philip Morgan of New Jersey and Guy Morgan of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three daughters-in-law, other relatives and a host of friends. Ethel Robbins Morris

Ethel Robbins Morris, "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24. Mrs. Ethel Robbins Morris, age 89, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 29, 2000. The daughter of Hilda Pollard and Thomas Freeman Robbins, she was born in Washington, North Carolina on September 19, 1910. After graduating from Washington High School, she attended East Carolina Teachers' College. She came to Galax in 1931 and worked in the office of Galax Knitting Mill. On November 15, 1933, she married Robert Vaughan Morris, Sr., a Galax business and civic leader. Her husband and three sisters, Emily Freeman Robbins, Mary Robbins Rhodes, and Hilda Robbins Bowen, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Robert V. Morris, Jr. of Clarksville, Virginia, Dr. Thomas R. Morris and his wife, Barbara-lyn of Emory, Virginia, and David P. Morris, Sr. and his wife, Linda of Roanoke. Also surviving is one brother, Edgar Clark Robbins of St. Louis, Missouri. A devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Robert V. Morris, III of Neptune Beach, Florida, Mrs. Tabbitha Morris Barnes, Sharon Robbins Morris, and Rosa Vaughan Morris, all of Emory, Virginia, Mrs. Melanie Morris Johnson of Mooresville, North Carolina, Amy C. Morris of Blacksburg, Virginia, and David P. Morris, Jr. of Roanoke; and one great-grandchild, Anthony Barnes. An active member of First United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Galax Garden Club. In 1994 she founded the R. V. Morris and Ethel R. Mrs. Earle Cleaves Moseley

Mrs. Earle Cleaves Moseley was born in Washington, NC, the daughter of the late Vandy and Bessie Cleaves. She had one sister, Carolyn Cleaves Payton and two brothers, William Cleaves and Bonner Cleaves. She married Dr. Alexander D. Moseley in 1936.  Mrs. Moseley graduated from Elizabeth State University and did graduate study at Hampton Institute. She spent a total of 40 years teaching children; 22 years in the Beaufort County and Washington City School System, four years at the Ralph J. Bunch School in Weldon, NC, eleven years at the Crest Street Elementary School and three years at the E.K. Powe Elementary School in Durham. She was also the first to teach an adult educations class sponsored by Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, of which her husband, the late Rev. Alexander D. Moseley was pastor and she was a member.  Mrs. Moseley was an active member of many professional, civic, social, religous and political organizations.  She leaves behind a daughter, Alexis Daniel of Urbana, IL; and a granddaughter, Ayesha Earle Randolph of New York City.  A memorial service for Mrs. Earle Moseley will be held at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Saturday, April 13, at 11 AM with Rev. Leroy Davis of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church presiding over the service. Mr. Charles Gilbert Motteler, 78, of Clark’s Neck Road, Washington, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Beaufort County Hospital.  A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.  Mr. Motteler was born in Rockport, Ind., on July 1, 1928. He was the son of the late Thomas H. Motteler and Frances Grose Motteler. He served two tours of duty as a carbine sharpshooter in the Marine Corps. On Feb. 11, 1946, he married the former Elsie Gray Smith, who survives. He was a retired construction worker. He was baptized into the 10th Street Church of Christ.  Surviving are four sons, Charles “Ricky” Motteler, Gary Lee Motteler and Michael Ray Motteler all of Washington, Larry Gene Motteler of Blounts Creek; one daughter, Elaine M. Edwards of Washington; one sister, Deloris Alcarz of Dunlap, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.  (Washington Daily News (Washington, NC) – Sunday, October 8, 2006)


Ayesha Muhammad

Ayesha ''Sweetie Bullock'' Muhammad, 63, of the 3200 block of Avenue H, died Feb. 1, 2000, in Chesapeake.  ''Sweetie,'' as she was affectionately known, was reared in a loving, Christian home. She was a happy and vibrant person and loved by all who knew her.  She was born in Washington, N.C., Beaufort County, and was a teacher/professor for New York Public Schools. She was a professional artist and the originator of the expression ''collage genealogy.'' She was a graduate of Washington, N.C., attended Elizabeth City State University and graduated from Fordham University in New York. She was pursuing her Ph.D. in education.  She is survived by a son, Ronald Karl Bullock of North Carolina; three sisters, Mary B. Hawkins of Chocowinity, N.C., Annie Mae Dennis and Naomi Pope, both of Portsmouth; four brothers, Romeo Bullock of Chesapeake, Frank Bullock and John Bullock, both of Portsmouth and Winslow Bullock Sr. of Chesapeake; brothers-in-law, Preston Hawkins, Walter Dennis; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bullock and Marion Bullock and a devoted sister-in-law, Eula Bullock; three grandchildren, Francessa ''Tanya'' Smith, Rashad Bullock and Ronald Bullock Jr., all of North Carolina; grandson-in-law, Rodriquez Smith; a great-grandchild, Rozalyn Smith of North Carolina; an aunt, Maggie Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, James Ella Keyes Bullock and Edward W. Bullock Sr.  A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Steele-Bullock Funeral Home Chapel, formerly Serenity Funeal Home, by Amen Ferebee. Sarah McHarney Muir

Sarah McHarney Muir, 80, of 140 Wexford Place died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.  Born in Belhaven, N.C., she was a homemaker and was past president of the United Cerebral Palsy Association. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Wesley Sunday school class, and a former member of the UMW of the church.  Surviving are her husband, William O. Muir of the home; one daughter, Deborah Rowell of Anderson; three grandchildren, Jenna R. Galyean, Jessica J. Rowell and Eugene E. Rowell IV; and four sisters, Lelia Eury of Vass, N.C., Dorothy Harris of Atlantic Beach, N.C., Jean Eaton of Cary, N.C., and Harriett Warren of Washington, N.C.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene Paul McHarney. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Muir; a grandson, Colin Paul Rowell; a brother, Charles McHarney; and a sister, Lucy M. Williams.  The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Peninsula Funeral Home chapel in Newport News. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. Joyce B. Mullin

Joyce B. Mullin, 96, of Mizpah, died on March 1, 2001 at the Greenbriar Nursing Home in Hammonton. Born in Washington, NC, she was a 50 year resident of Mizpah having previously lived in Pleasantville. She was a member of the American Legion Post 254 Ladies Auxiliary in Mays Landing. She is survived by her niece, Anna Mason of North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 1, at the Weymouth Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Boakes Funeral Home, Mays Landing. Herman Lee Murrell

Herman Lee Murrell, 63, who was principal of two high schools in Charles County and a leader in his community in Prince George's County, died June 19 of stomach cancer at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He lived in the Lake Arbor neighborhood of Kettering.  He was a teacher and administrator in the Charles County schools for 24 years, beginning as a teacher of instrumental music at Thomas Stone High School in Leonardtown in 1971. He became the school's vice principal from 1975 to 1979.  He was named vice principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School in Pomfret in 1979 and, from 1985 to 1991, served as the school's principal. In 1988, he received a commendation from the governor of Maryland for managing an emergency at McDonough, when gymnasium bleachers collapsed and injured 78 students, four of them seriously.  In 1991, Mr. Murrell returned to Thomas Stone as principal, and in 1992 was the only Charles County principal to receive a Distinguished Educational Leadership Award from The Washington Post. During his tenure at the school, students' test scores showed marked improvement.  After he retired from education in 1995, he became known as the "Pied Piper of Lake Arbor" for his walks through his Prince George's community, where he had lived since 1987. He was a founder and charter member of the Lake Arbor Civic Association and chaired a grass-roots neighborhood communication network. He helped organize the annual Lake Arbor celebration, as well as an awards ceremony for community volunteers.  In 2002, he received an "Unsung Hero" award from Tuskegee University, and in 2003 he was named Prince George's County volunteer of the year.  He taught Sunday school at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in the District.  Mr. Murrell was born in Washington, N.C., and graduated from North Carolina A&T University. He was a band director in Statesville, N.C., before moving in 1967 to St. Mary's County, where he taught music until he took his first position at Thomas Stone.  Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elaine Brown Murrell of Kettering; two sons, Jeffrey and Allen Murrell, both of Mitchellville; a sister, F. Susan Murrell of Washington, N.C.; and two brothers, Alroy Murrell of Wilmington, N.C., and Bonner Murrell of Mitchellville.  (The Washington Post (Washington, DC) – June 24, 2004; pg. B5)


Beatrice B. Murray

Beatrice B. Murray, 63, a supervisor in the electrical assembly department at Litton Industries in College Park, where she had worked for 23 years, died Jan. 8 at Leland Memorial Hospital after a heart attack. She lived in Brentwood. Mrs. Murray was born in Washington, N.C. She moved to the Washington, D.C., area in 1950. She joined Litton in 1961.  Her marriage to Joseph Woolard ended in divorce.  Survivors include her husband, Robert L., of Brentwood; four children by her first marriage, Robert Woolard of Cheverly, Albert Woolard of Woodbridge, Thelma Life of Chesapeake, Va., and JoAnn Robinson of Landover; five brothers, Albert Alligood and Willie Alligood, both of Virginia Beach, John and Mack Alligood, both of Washington, N.C., and David Alligood of Alexandria; three sisters, Irene Woolard and Nannie L. Burnice Murry

Mr. Burnice Murry, 87, of 19179 N.C. Highway 33, Edward, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale, Ill.  A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Bernard Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Murry family cemetery in Bonnerton.  Mr. Murry was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 20, 1919. He was the son of the late Rev. John Murry and Delzora Murry. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was married to Mamie E. Murry, who survives. He was a member of Phenel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  Survivors include one daughter, Joann Clark of Elmhurst, Ill.; one stepson, James A. Battle of Kensington, Md.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Della Stilley and Delzora Spencer, both of Edward.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Essie Moore, John Murry, William H. Murry, Elbert Murry, James Murry, David Murry, Harold Murry, Odell Murry and Thomas Murry.  The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Whitfield & Whitley Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home.  (Washington Daily News (Washington, NC) – Friday, December 15, 2006)


Eugene Earl Murphy

WASHINGTON - Eugene Earl Murphy, 72, of the 6000 block of River Road, died May 6, 2002, at his residence. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired parts manager with Western Branch Diesel Corporation in Portsmouth. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Paramore Murphy; four daughters, Vickie M. Frazier of Newport News, Tammy M. Attanucci of Virginia Beach, Joetta Cutler Adams of Chocowinity, N.C., and Connie Cutler Grimes Duane of Clancy, Mont.; a sister, Betty M. Greenbecker of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Catherine Murphy of Burlington, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, with the Rev. Richard Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with military rites. Mary Lou Harris Musser

NEWPORT NEWS - Mary Lou Musser, 64, received her angel wings appropriately on the Sabbath, Sunday, February 22, 2004, after a three-year battle against cancer pain and a seven-week fight against a still unknown infection.  She was born in Washington, N.C., the daughter of Jesse Randolph Harris Sr. and Lucy Mae Lilley Harris. Her family moved to Newport News in 1942.  She was educated in Newport News Public Schools and attended Christopher Newport University. An active volunteer of numerous civic and community organizations, she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, officer in the Hilton School PTA and volunteer at St. Andrews Day School, Trinity Lutheran Day School and Peninsula Catholic High School. For many years she was a member of the Junior Woman's Club of Hilton Village where she acted in their annual Gaslight Dinner Theater. Mrs. Musser was a regular Blood Drive donor and occasional Platelet donor, representing her church for the Area Hilton Church Blood Drives for many years. She was a member of the American Cancer Society board for 15 years, participating in the Road to Recovery Program many of those years driving cancer patients to their treatments. Together with her husband, Mrs. Musser headed up the Accounting Committee of the Relay for Life for seven years. She was an avid bridge player, playing in the Active Bridge Group for over 30 years. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club, holding various offices.  During her life Mrs. Musser was employed by the Newport News Public Schools, Colonial Williamsburg, Eastern Carriers, and the Gathering of Men.  One of the true loves of her life was her church, Hilton Christian. Mrs. Musser served the Christian Women's Fellowship as treasurer, secretary and president. She was a member of the church choir, served as deacon and deaconess, and taught Sunday school classes for primary and 3-5-year-olds. Mrs. Musser believed that God had blessed her life abundantly and shared His love with others.  Mrs. Musser was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Randolph Harris.  She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Lt. Colonel John (Jay) Musser of Newport News; her mother, Lucy Mae Harris of Newport News; four daughters, Cynthia Hughes Davis and husband, Rob, of Irving, Texas, Anne Hughes Page and husband, Larry, of Crozier, Va., Amy Hughes Porter and husband, Bernard, of Franklin, Tenn., and Elizabeth Hughes Thomas and husband, Kirk, of Newport News; four stepchildren, John Musser of Rockwall, Texas, Mary Ellen Musser Hensley of Houston, Texas, Kelly Musser Suttle and husband, David, of Newport News, and Robin Musser of Austin, Texas; 19 grandchildren; a brother, J. Randolph Harris Jr. and wife, Angie, of Charlotte, N.C.; and sister, Patti Harris Hill and husband, Don, of Anandale, Va.  Mrs. Musser was a servant to others during life and chose to serve the living even after death by being an anatomical donor, giving her body to a Virginia medical school for research.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Hilton Christian Church followed by a reception at the church for time to visit with the family.  (Daily Press (Newport News, VA) – February 25, 2004; PG. Milan J. Muzinich

CARY - Major Milan J. Muzinich, 85, died on August 12, 2002. A native of San Francisco, he was born on December 5, 1916 to Josef Muzinich and Johanna Simcich Muzinich.  Mr. Muzinich served in World War II and was based in Cherry Point, NC when he met and married Helen Pollock Cox of Kinston, NC. They lived in Kinston until 1961 when they moved to Wilson, NC, and then later to Washington, NC.  In addition to owning and operating several small businesses, Milan was also very involved in community service, including serving on the Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees. He was a member of several civic organizations, he volunteered his time in and around the community, and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Mr. Muzinich was a longtime member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Washington, NC, and later at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity, NC. He spent the last years of his life near family at Heartfields Assisted Living in Cary, NC.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Muzinich.  Mr. Muzinich is survived by his daughter, Joanna M. Hicks and her husband Irven Hicks of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Hanna Schoenrock and her husband, Jason Schoenrock of Apex, Peter-John Hicks and his wife, Sarah Hicks; his beloved great- grandchildren, Katie, Jacob, and Sam Schoenrock.  A committal service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Thursday, August 15 at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Chocowinity, NC n Friday, August 16 at 1 p.m.  Arrangements by Apex Funeral Home, 511 W. Tom Robert Myers, Jr.

Mr. Tom Robert Myers Jr., 50, of 136 Clara Carter Road, Blounts Creek, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at home.  A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Southside High School, Chocowinity, with the Rev. Leroy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Clay Bottom Church cemetery, Chocowinity.  Mr. Myers was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 5, 1956. He was the son of Lena Howard Myers and the late Tom Robert Myers Sr. He was a graduate of Washington High School. He was a member of Clay Bottom Missionary Baptist Church, Chocowinity.  Survivors include 11 sisters, Virgel Ross, Roberta Guion, Janice Stokes, Vivian Ruffin, Chrylene Maye and Clara Myers, all of Chocowinity, Mavis Ebron, Joyce Guilford and Verna Booth, all of Washington, Leathea Myers of the home, and Sarah Smith of Blounts Creek; and three brothers, David R. Myers, Joe C. Myers and Curtis L. Myers, all of Blounts Creek.  The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Lena H.
