Family Research Society of Northeastern North Carolina

The Family Research Society of Northeastern North Carolina covers Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans Counties. These counties were part of the original Albemarle County. We do have information on some others counties, especially Tyrrell.

The Family Research Society is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to exchange, research and collect genealogical and historical information and materials in the above mentioned counties. We meet on the first Sunday of every even month at 3:00 p.m. at our new library.

Our genealogy library is located at 103 N. Ashe Street Elizabeth City, NC. The library contains many useful census, wills, cemetery records, family records, published family histories, and more. Anyone wishing to research in these counties, needs to begin here. The library hours are; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 to 3:00. A Librarian will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions. The phone number there is (252)333-1640. It is open to the public.
