I have a John BUTLER & Christopher BUTLER who lived in Chowan County Christopher BUTLER Sr. died in Chowan Co. before 27 Jul 1703 when he was to appear in court. His son Christopher, the Mariner, was a monor official at St. Paul's Parish in 1701. He is mentioned in court records as late as 1704. Christoper II married Sarah Stepney daughter of John Stepney. If memory serves, Thomas' son is John and (one of) John's son is Miles WALLIS. Miles WALLIS left a will in Orange County listing his daughter, Elizabeth WALLIS FAUCETT, the wife of William E. I would like information regarding John Nelson Rogers who married Sarah Francis Murphey in Wayne County Tenn 3-7-1875. Sarah was the daughter of Sarah Linville and Calvin George Murphy of S.C. Calvin George Murphy served in Civil War. The older Sarah Murphy and her brother, Clevlan or Leander Murphy are buried in "Cedar Grove Cemetary" in Tennesse? Where is that??? John Rogers and Sarah Francis Linville Rogers had childred born in Tenn : Laura W. Rogers who died as a child and may be buried there--Laura W. Rogers born 2-12-1876 and died 9-15-1880.

Seek info on descendants of Richard MEDLIN of New Kent County, Virginia that settled in Bertie (Chowan)County between 1717 and 1728. On May 14, 1728, Richard MEDLIN (MEADLING) purchased from Jacob Oadham of Nansemond County, VA 640 acres of land in Bertie County at a branch of the Cashie River adjacent to Francis PARKER and Thomas BUSBEE. On December 5, 1739 in Bertie County, Nicholas MEDLIN (MEDLINE) and wife Ann sold to James Stewart 440 acres of land of the 640 acres of land whereon MEDLIN lived on the north side of the Moratock (Roanoke) River, adjoining Francis Parker, to a branch of the Cashie River, adjoining Thomas Busbee. On May 10, 1743 in Bertie County Court held at the house of John Collins near Red Bud Branch, the will of Owen MCDANIEL was proved by Richard MEDLIN. Descendants of Richard MEDLIN migrated to Granville County by 1754.

Would also like to know who the Wm. FLOYD was that married Christina WHITE (Chowan Co NC m.b dated 10 Mar 1779) and who was the Wm. FLOYD that was a witness to the 1778 Chowan Co will of Peter RHODA. Celia and/or Roady LANE may have been the dau or granddaughter of a Nathaniel LANE. Wm. & Roady (LANE) FLOYD may have had a son named Nathaniel who married Elizabeth Beasley (Chowan Co NC m.b. dated 20 Dec 1822, bondsman was Wm. FLOYD). Wm. & Roady may have also had a son named Jesse who married Penelope TORKSEY (Chowan Co NC m.b. dated 24 Aug 1820, bondsman was Wm. FLOYD). Moses & Celia (LANE) ROADY named one of their sons Nathaniel L.

A Daughters of the American Colonists publication show a William CHARLTON (d. after 1725) m. to a Susannah SMITHWICK He was Judge and Justice of Peace for Chowan Co. in 1708. Who were his children? I trying to find the parents of Martha CHARLTON who was married to a TOMLINSON by 1755 when Susanna Tomlinson was born.

Searching for information on Richard Jordan born about 1800 and may have married Sarah Parish in 1819 in Chowan County. Also looking for Henry E. Jordan from this same county, and william Jordan who married Cynthia Skinner in 1817 in Chowan County. These 3 people left Chowan County for Preble County, Ohio and later to Carroll county, Indiana.

Searching for info on Laura Estelle Hawkins,born Oct.4, 1858 near Castilia, Nash Co., daughter of William and Elizabeth Hawkins. Laura Estelle Hawkins married James Henry Edwards June 6, 1876 at Hawkins home. James Henry was the child of Bennett Edwards and Frances Collins, born Oct. 11, 1858. Laura and James had 3 children: James Henry Jr., Ida Lee, and Mary Frances who was my grandmother. She married Lonnie Raleigh Cross on December 15, 1901. Lonnie was born in Chowan Co., NC in 1879 of Addie Felton and R.L. (Raleigh Lonnie?) Cross.

I am looking for information on Thomas Nash, supposedly born in Chowan County. I have two birthdates, one in 1754 and one in 1763. According to the 1850 LA census he was listed as being 97 years old. His first wife may have been Emily/Sarah Slater, there is some question about this, and his second wife was Anna Goins whom he married in LA. Any help would be appreciated. BEASLEY Searching for info and records on ALL descendants of the Beasley family. This family settled in the Chowan Co. area in the late 1600's, coming here from Virginia. There were eight families listed on the 1790 US Census. By the mid-1700's, the family had spread throughout the coastal region of NC. During the 1800's, they spread throughout the South and Midwest.
