An extinct village on the mainland
east of East Lake on Rt 64, Post Office opened October 11, 1889; and closed
August 15, 1903; then re-opened February 29, 1908; and closed June 11,
1947 . The village was a lumbering camp ,who cut here and ferried or rafted
logs to Elizabeth City. Financing fell thru in the late 1920's and lumbering
ended. Then sometime in the late 1930's or early 1940's Clyde Duvall and
a couple others leased the land and resumed lumbering.
