About Northeast North Carolina
The
Northeastern Counties of North Carolina are
part of the original Albemarle County which was established in 1664 and was the
first organized and settled area of the Carolinas. The history of the Albemarle (Historic Albemarle County)
can be told through the stories of the individuals and the families that have
lived here in the past as well as those living here today. This area is so rich in history that our past
is one of our greatest resources. We
have more than 300 years of history with much yet to be uncovered.
