Baptist Church and its members, past and present, as the following is a partial

listed as colored and in another the same person is listed as Indian or mixed
blood as race was mainly a perception.
The book also contains information from 59 index cards which appear to
be non-white marriages for which the license/return has been lost. Of the grooms listed, 30% claimed their place
of birth as NC while 25% of the brides listed their place of birth as NC. 13%
of the grooms and 11% of the brides have reported a place of birth in one of
