MESSAGE received from the Library on Aug 19, 2009
"Dear friends,
We have finally gotten the word about our move from the third floor to the second floor. It appears that the Heritage Research Center will be closed from Monday, August 24th through Wednesday, August 26th. We will not be able to take phone calls or answer e-mail during that period. We will reopen in our new location on the second floor, just to the left of the elevators, on Thursday, August 27th.
It appears that our new reference desk will not be delivered in time for the second floor opening. Seating will be tight initially because we have to leave an empty zone where the new desk will be installed.
Already, our North Carolina history, family history and High Point history files are packed. They will be unavailable for research until Thursday, August 27th. Most of our microfilm is also packed and unavailable. The only exception is the High Point Enterprise, which will be boxed up this weekend. We will not be able to answer any questions that require back issues of the Enterprise (including requests for obituaries) from Saturday, August 22nd through Wednesday, August 26th. All of the microfilm and files should be available to use again on Thursday, August 27th. The book collection and computers will be available to customers right up through Sunday, August 23rd.
We are all very excited about our new accommodations and we hope you’ll take the time to come visit us in the days after the move is completed. Thanks for your continuing support and your understanding during this time of transition. If you have any questions about the move or availability of resources during it, please feel free to call us at (336) 883-3637.
Thank you,
Heritage Research Center Staff
