Special Projects

Full name indexing of first 25 Genealogical Journals is now

being printed and will be available for sale in October. The index contains

approximately 150,000 names.  The price has not yet been determined.

Several society members took a trek to the N.C. Archives to abstract

records regarding Davidson County Bastardy Bonds.  Dewey Snider,

Belinda Rodgers, Becky Lassiter, Marlene Adams, and Betty Cook

spent the day there and gleaned a wealth of abstracts.  However,

several trips will be necessary to obtain all the information.  Records

currently abstracted will be available in a notebook located in the Genealogy

Room.  Dewey Snider may be available to do lookups.

A Lexington Dispatch obituary abstract project has been started but

volunteers are badly needed.  

Vernelle Greene is abstracting delayed birth registration information.
