The Haywood County Genealogical Society and The Haywood County Historical Society have recently merged to form The Haywood County Historical & Genealogical Society. We have a membership that averages about 100 including many out-of-state members. We plan our meetings with interesting programs, historical studies, and an annual "open mike" night in November. Our Purpose

• To facilitate the study of genealogy, family, and local history.
• To encourage the preservation and availability of family, public records, and to promote programs of educational value relating thereto.
• To publish newsletters and books that relate to the activities of the society.
• To collect genealogical books, family records, and research materials that will aid its members and non-resident researchers.
• To provide for the exchange of ideas on the development of genealogical and family information and history, and to provide opportunities for fellowship in furtherance of the above purposes.
• To exercise all powers necessary or convenient to effect any or all of the purposes for which this corporation is organized, including the powers enumerated in the North Carolina Non-Profit Corporation Act, Chapter 35-A of the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina.
