We offer several ways to service your queries:

We can search the materials available in our Resource Center.
If you check the Surname List on our website and find names you are interested in, we can find those names in the Ancestor Charts which are on file in the HCGS Resource Center, and we can put you in touch with the persons who submitted the information. Also, if you are researching Haywood County ancestors, we can check the indexes of our Haywood County Residents Database and our Haywood County Heritage Book to look for names that may lead to the information you are seeking. We can then inform you of relevant entries and articles.

Local members may visit the Resource Center and search these indexes on their own, while others may request that we perform this service for them. Please include in your query the full names and at least the approximate birth and death dates of the persons you want us to research. Enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelop and, if you are not a member of the society, please also enclose a $3.00 donation per surname for this limited query. This service is free to members.

We have genealogists who can do a limited amount of research in response to Queries that involve more than what is available in the Resource Center.
If you want this service, send your query (narrowly stated, please) with a stamped, self-addressed envelop and a $10.00 donation to the address below. This service is free to members who send a stamped, self-addressed envelop. There may be charges for copying, which will be billed at $.15 per page.

You may publish one query per year in our quarterly newsletter, Balsam Roots, and on our website.
This service is free for members, non-members are asked to send a donation of of $2.00. You may view the queries from the latest newsletter at our Newsletter.

We can refer you to a professional genealogist for more extensive research.
