Note: Many Haywood County records were destroyed in 1932 during the move to a new courthouse.

BIRTHS, DEATHS, and MARRIAGES

The Register of Deeds office files all certificates for Haywood County beginning in 1913.  A certified copy of a certificate is $10.00 and may be used for any legal purpose.  A plain copy, suitable for genealogical purposes, is 25 cents.

For Birth Certificates, send the full name at birth, the date of birth, and the parent's full names with the mother's maiden name.

For Death Certificates, send the full name at death and the date of death.

For Marriage Licenses, send the bride and groom's full names with the bride's maiden name and the wedding date

For more information call the Register of Deeds office at 828-452-6635.  Their office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

They don't have the staff to do searches so be specific and request only one or two documents at a time.  Send a check or money order with your request, signature, phone number, and a stamped self-addressed envelope to:
