  Mine Creek Baptist Cemetery

Mine Creek Baptist Church (above) and a view of the lower -- and older -- section of the cemetery (right). You can just see the top of the church below the cemetery on your right.

The grave of Elbert Burleson (d. 1906) at Mine Creek Cemetery. This stone was photographed on an overcast day, and was not entirely legible under those conditions.

Location: On a gravel road above and behind Mine Creek Baptist Church.

Condition: This cemetery is well maintained, but many of the older stones are badly weathered and wholly or partially illegible. Many of the older graves are marked with fieldstones.

This cemetery was surveyed by E. S. Hamilton in 1937 and 1942 for the Historical Records Survey of North Carolina. The 1942 survey did not include graves dating from after 1913.
