My name is Glenda Biggerstaff and I am with the Moore County Genealogical
Society, serving as the newsletter editor.
In my wanderings about Moore County I have taken pictures of headstones.
Currently there are 324 headstones. Contact me at gleebigg@aol.com
for a complete list and cost, as the list changes every few months.
The Moore County Genealogical Society has begun a project entitled "Moore
Letters" MCGS is looking for letters written to/from Moore Co families
prior to 1900 to compile in book form.
Submissions of copies of the correspondence may be sent to Moore County
Genealogical Society, PO Box 1183, Pinehurst NC 28370-1183
Letters may also be taken to the library in Carthage and copies left
there with Tony Parker.
I, personally, have a book completed entitled "Abstracts of Moore County, North Carolina, Superior Court Minutes, Volume D, 1835-1839" The original minutes are nothing more than abstracts of the court case. I've attempted to maintain the integrity of the minutes. Cost is $18.00, plus $2.00 shipping and handling.
The book is 65 pages, with a complete index. Also included are
definitions of the lesser known legal terms. There are 1020 names,
1 free colored, 18 slaves, 19 businesses; 381 surnames of which 13 have
at least 1 other spelling. For ordering information I can be contacted
