RICHARDSON / COOPER / MOORE
Fran Richardson Sun Jun 22 11:48:42 1997
Richardson/Cooper/Moore-Randolph/Moore/Scotland Co. NC I am looking for information on my Richardson family. My great- great grandfather was James Alfred Richardson of Scotland County. His wife's name may have been Mary Anne Woods or Mary Garner. His son, Alfred Duckery Richardson(1878-1941) married Mishie Alvina Moore(1880-1934) of Moore County in 1899. They moved to Randolph County and had 12 children. My grandfather was Bennie Duckery Richardson (1902-1983) of Randleman. He was married to Dovie Cooper. Her father was Arthur Cooper. I do not have much any other information on the Cooper family at this point. My grandparents had 4 children in addition to my granmothers 3 children from a previous marriage. My father is their youngest child, Donald Lee Richardson born in Randleman in 1933. I am looking for links to the Richardson family that had family reunions at Hulda Baptist Church in Seagrove. My father remembers attending an event with "dinner on the grounds." He also remembers one of the oldest Richardsons was named Raydo Richardson. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it. I am just getting started, and I need some leads. Sincerely,

BAIN / WALKER
Mary Anne Florence Tue Jun 17 12:24:58 1997
Seeking information on Elizabeth Walker who married Jonathan Bain 20Nov1824 in Randolph County, NC. Elizabeth was born 18Jan1794. Their daughter Emily Caroline was born 14Mar1824 which leads me to believe that either Jonathan or Elizabeth was married before and Emily is a daughter by that first marriage. So I am also looking for a previous marriage for either Jonathan or Elizabeth which means Walker may not not be Elizabeth's maiden name. Also looking for Jonathan's parents. Jonathan is listed as Jr. in the marriage record so father would be Jonathan Sr.

PARKS, need help with estate papers

I have copies of witness statements from the case "JOHN PARKS and OTHERS vs JOAB PARKS and OTHERS", which occurred in October of 1855, and April of 1856. The April statements were taken in "J. H. BOLLING / REDDING
Fredrick W. Boling Tue May 13 07:36:34 1997
I am searching for the projenitors of my ggf, Redding BOLING, who was born in Washington County, Indiana 3 January 1831. His line probably comes from John BOLING,Sr., born ca. 1780, a son of Benjamin BOLLING who was born 25 April 1754. I believe that John lived in Randolph or Guilford counties during later 1800s, but have no definite proof. Family records reveal that he was married to Talitha REDING/REDDING and they had 6 daughters and 6 sons. Four of the sons, Randolph, Benjamin, John Jr. and Jesse immigrated to Washington County, Indiana ca. 1820-40. I am 99% certain that Jesse isn't the father of Redding, but I believe that one of the other brothers is his father. I am especially interested in any marriages of two of John Sr.'s sons, Benjamin and John Jr., while they were still in North Carolina. Any help with the Boling/Bolling and REDING/REDDING families in Guilford or neighboring counties would be greatly appreciated. Fredrick W. Boling

ELLIS
Alfred C. Ellis Sun Mar 9 18:19:39 1997
I am researching my ancestor WILLIAM ELLIS' participation in the Revolutionary War in RandolphCo., NC. I have received some important information but I am unsure of what it all means. I found the following reference to answer some of my question, but some of them remained unanswered. WILLIAM ELLIS' payment vouchers were dated at various dates in the summer of 1783. The vouchers were signed by JOHN NICHOLS and ALEXANDER MEBANE. Another signature on the front of the vouchers was the name B. SANDERS, Sr. According to my reference Brittain Sanders did not become the Army Commisioner until 1792 and this is when the vouchers would have been turned in if he was indeed the official, but my question is why his name on the Vouchers which were dated 1783. On the back of the Vouchers where the following names: SAMUEL WILLIAMS, SAMUEL BAULDENY(?), WILLIAM CLARK, T. CARMEN, JOHN HUMPHRIES, JOHN RICHARD, HENRY WARREN(?), JOHN HINDS. The name William Ellis was on the back of all Vouchers. Has anyone else tried studying these records and their significance. Thank you.

THARP
Lou Pero Sun Apr 6 10:39:08 1997
Robert Tharp applied for a Rev War pension from Franklin co AL about 1840. He said at that time that he served his first tour of duty from "Saulsberry" in 1776, then returned to his father's home on the Deep River near Wilcoxes Iron works. The Deep River seems to flow through Guilford, Randolph and Chatham counties. I have checked the land indexes for all three counties, no Tharps or Wilcoxes in any of them, except there were some Tharps in the 1800's in Guilford Co. Does anyone know if there is a published tax record for Guilford Co ca 1776 that might list any Tharps?

SIMMONS / FARLOW
David Sadler Fri Feb 14 20:26:07 1997
Looking for the parents and family of John SIMMONS who are most likely from the old Hillsboro District in North Carolina (1750-1790). This covers Orange County and parts of Randolph, Chatham, Guilford, Granville, and Wake Counties, NC. SIMMONS families can be spotted in this area from early tax lists and census as early as 1750's. The area was settled by many immigrants from Pennsylvania and Virginia I have been told. In particular looking for any and all information on Job SIMMONS listed in the 1790 Randolph County census. Also a Mark SIMMONS listed in early Bourbon County, KY tax lists maybe related as well. Some research has already been done with limited success. John SIMMONS was born about 1775 probably in North Carolina. In March 1800 he married Elizabeth FARLOW in Randolph County, North Carolina. Their first five children are born in Randolph County, but in 1811 they move to Indiana along with several Farlow Families. By 1820's John and Elizabeth are living in Rush County, Indiana; by 1830 they are living in Hancock County and then in 1838 they move to Montgomery County, Indiana where John dies in 1847 and Elizabeth around 1855. The FARLOW's were Quakers and the SIMMONS' might have been Mennonite. Their children lived in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Oregon. Relatively good genealogies of descendants available.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR QUERY, Capt. Hind's local militia
Alfred C. Ellis Mon Feb 10 20:16:59 1997
I am researching my ancestor's role in the Revolutionary War. I know that he was in Captain Hind's local militia and many of the men in this militia were his neighbors. I have just received information from the NC Archives which indicate that he was compensated for his service in the receipt of payment vouchers. Also, received was a Revolutionary Army Account. Apparently, money was loaned enlistees to purchase land or something to that effect. I really don't understand the purpose or function of these Revolutionary Army Accounts. My ancestors received his in 1783 and written across the vouchers were the names John Hines and William Clark who apparently were the commanding officers. Any insight into these dealings would be greatly appreciated.

ALLRED
Sally Cox Mon Jan 20 12:30:01 1997
I'm trying to find out more information about the Allred family who lived in Randolph County from around 1734/36 to the early 1800's. The family name was varyingly Aldridge, Aldred or Allred before they came to Randolph County, N.C. from Northumberland County, Virginia. John Aldridge and his wife Annie Hamilton arrived around 1734/36 with several of their children, one of whom was my ancestor, Thomas Allred (b. 1730 in Northumberland County, VA.). Thomas married Elizabeth Diffee in 1752 in Randolph County. Their son, William Allred, was born in Randolph County in 1756 and married Elizabeth Thrasher (b. 1754 in Randolph County) who was the daughter of Benjamin Thrasher, also of Randolph County. William and Elizabeth's son, James Allred (b. 22 Jan. 1784 in Asheboro, Randolph County) is my great-great-great grandfather. James Allred married Elizabeth Warren on 14 Nov. 1803, and sometime thereafter, this branch of my family left Randolph County. Any information relating to the Allred's livelihood, etc. would be welcome.

BREEDLOVE
Judith B. Glad Thu Jan 2 07:05:24 1997
Nellie/Ellen Breedlove was listed in 1860 census in John W. York household in "The Wish Division(?)", Asheboro, Randolph County. A Sarah may have been his wife or a Breedlove. There was also a Haywood in the household who was probably the Hayward Breedlove listed with her in 1870 in IN. Seeking information on where Nellie's parents were (their names were apparently Thomas and Nancy) and when the family migrated to Indiana. Family Records state that Nellie was born in Guilford County in 1837.
