The Robeson County Genealogical Society meetings are held the first Saturday of the month in Lumberton, NC at 2:00 p.m. at the auditorium across from the Robeson County Library, Lumberton, NC unless otherwise noted on this page.

Our Meeting November 1, 2014

Will be held at 2 pm at the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical

Complex, 801 Arsenal Ave., Fayetteville, NC

You will need your own transportation. At the business we can discuss having a meal

or evening snack together before heading home. Please wear you Society Shirt if you have one.

FYI:  The historic complex we will be visiting, at no charge, includes a museum with exhibits of NCís rich history; the 1897 Poe House; and historic Arsenal Park, which consists of the remains of an ordnance factory that served both the Federal and Confederate governments.

FYI:  We will get to see a special exhibit on its opening day. This exhibit features the original signature page of the ratification document making North Carolina the 12th state to join the Union.   Fayetteville was the site of the ratification by delegates who came from all over the state.   This year marks the 225th anniversary of this historic event.

Directions if needed:

From the Lumberton area, probably the easiest route is to

-  take I-95 North;

-  take exit 46-B onto NC-87 North toward Fayetteville;

-  take exit 104-B onto Hay Street toward downtown;

-..take the first right onto Bradford Avenue;

-  take the first right onto Arsenal Avenue.

-  Museum is on the left.
