Seeking information about James Smith - July 1, 1768 - Oct. 6, 1855, born in Pitt County, NC and moved to Robeson County in the early 1790s. He married Esther Glare - 1777 - 1864, and they had 10 children. They lived on the Great Swamp at Smith's Bridge between Lumberton and Elizabethtown. One of his sons, William - Sept. 1, 1804 - July 15, 1889, married Sarah Regan - Oct. 6, 1808 - Jan. 20, 1883 and lived in the Wisharts Township. They had 10 children. I am researching the Scott family. John Scott was born Sept 1, 1913 Robeson Co. NC and died same county April of 1994. They were Lumbee Indians.
I have found out that John's father was Feruss or Teruss Scott born 1852 NC and wife was Mary born 1887. They had Marvin in 1912, John in 1913, Jessie W., in 1916 and Cora in 1918.
