ROBESON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA
Robeson County was
formed in 1787 from
Bladen County. It
was named in honor
of Colonel Thomas
Robeson,
a Bladen County
resident who fought
in the September
1781 Revolutionary
War Battle of
Elizabethtown,
North Carolina.
In
1788, Lumberton was
established as the
county seat.
The
present land area is
948.84 square miles
and the 2000
population was
123,245.
The other towns that make up
Robeson County are Fairmont,
Lumber Bridge, Maxton, Parkton, Pembroke, Red Springs, Rowland and St.
Pauls.
