Biographical Sketches John Alden - Born about 1599. Came from England as a cooper. Married about 1623, to Priscilla Mullins. They had eleven children. John died in Duxbury in 1687, at the age of 87. Left proven descendants. Signed Mayflower Compact. He was not a member of Leyden church, but was hired at Southampton as a cooper in the ship's crew on Mayflower. However, he signed the "compact" and remained with the colony. He was the last survivor of the signers. Isaac Allerton - Born about 1586, in England. Was one of the Leyden Congregation. Married (1) Mary Norris, (2) Fear Brewster, and (3) Joanna Swinnerton. Signed Mayflower Compact. He was chosen Deputy Governor in 1621, but had a falling out with Bradford. Moved to New Haven in 1630's and died there in 1659. He only had one son, Isaac, who has proven descendants. The son Isaac migrated to Virginia, where his line continued under the Allerton, Lee, and Travers surnames. John Billington - Born in England. Married Eleanor and had two sons, John and Francis. Signed Mayflower Compact. John Billington, Sr. was hanged for murder in 1630. He has proven descendants through his son Francis. Only Francis has proven descendants. William Bradford - Born in England. Served as Governor. Died at Plymouth on 19 May 1657. Married (1) Dorothy May and (2) Alice Southworth. Had four children. Has proven descendants. Signed Mayflower Compact. William Brewster - Born in England, 1567. Married Mary Wentworth. Died 1627. Left descendants. Signed Mayflower Compact. Peter Browne - Born in England around 1600. Married (1) Martha Ford and (2) Mary. Left descendants. Signed Mayflower Compact. James Chilton - Born in England, about 1556. Died aboard Mayflower while at anchor in Cape Cod Harbor, 18 December 1620. Signed Mayflower Compact, less than one month before his death. He was the oldest of the Pilgrims. He had been a tailor in Leyden. Left descendants through his daughters, Isabella and Mary. Mary was a teenage passenger on the Mayflower. She lost her mother, Susanna (maiden name unknown), during the first terrible winter. Mary later married John Winslow, brother to Passengers Edward & Gilbert Winslow. John arrived on the ship Fortune in 1621. Isabella Chilton was not on the Mayflower, but arrived later. Supposedly, Mary was the first to step on to Plymouth Rock. Francis Cooke - Born around 1583. Died at Plymouth, 17 April 1663. Married Hester Mahieu. Left descendants. Signed Mayflower Compact. Edward Doty - Born in England, 1600. Died in Plymouth, 2 September 1655. Married Faith Clark. Died at Plymouth, 1621. Married (1) Ann. Left descendants. Doctor Samuel Fuller - Born in England. Died 1633. He was the doctor for the colony. Married (1) Alice Glascock and (2) Agnes Carpenter. Left descendants. Stephen Hopkins - Born in England. Died in 1644 at Plymouth. Married (2) Elizabeth Fisher. Left descendants. John Howland - Born in England, 1592. Died at Plymouth, 5 March 1673. He married Elizabeth Tilley and left many descendants. William Mullins - Died on board the Mayflower at Plymouth, 3 March 1621. Daughter, Priscilla, is the only one who had descendants. Richard Moore - Born in England. Died 1697. Married (1) Christian Hunt and (2) Jane Hollingsworth. Left descendants. Degory Priest - Born in England. Died in Plymouth, 11 January 1621. Married Sarah (Allerton) Vincent. Left descendants. Thomas Rogers - Born 1587. Died at Plymouth in 1621. Name of wife unknown, but left descendants. Henry Samson - Born in England. Died at Duxbury, 16 February 1636. Married Ann Plummer. Left descendants. George Soule - Born in England about 1600 and died at Duxbury before 1 February 1680. Married Mary Becket. Left descendants. Myles Standish - Born in England about 1584. Died at Duxbury on 13 October 1656. Married (1) Rose and (2) Barbara. Left descendants. Standish was in Leyden, but not a member of the church. He was chosen Captain, 17 February 1621. John Tilley - Born in England. Died 1621. Married Elizabeth. Only his daughter, Elizabeth, has proven descendants. Richard Warren - Born in England about 1578. Died 1628 at Plymouth. Married Elizabeth and left descendants. William White - Born in England. Died February 1621. Married Susanna (Ann) Fuller. Left descendants. Edward Winslow - Born 28 October 1596. Died at sea in the West Indes on 18 May 1656. He married (1) Elizabeth Barker and (2) Susanna (Fuller) White, widow of William White. Left descendants.
